Unique Commander Names ?

As this is an MMO i am assuming that the commander names will be on a first come first served basis, is this the case?

Yes. No duplicate names, unless you swap say an o for a 0 (zero), or put symbols in, such as Bob is taken, so put -bob-.

I would have thought so even after the wipe, I am currently in wolf 359 at Powell High only 6 jumps from Eranin no other players, how did you get that name was wolf 358 gone already?

Unfortunately yes... and my name is already taken... so I kind of needed to do the o vs. 0 thing... just with i and !. -_-

Well... Wolf359 is a star (system)... you also cannot take names that are used in the game afaik. This may be the case for star systems?

I am not in game atm Wolf359 is a common forum name I use my ingame name wont be that so i guess it will be a mad scramble on release day to get your name, although I did read somewhere that backers will have their choice of name before us lesser mortals

Names can be changed / reserved now via: https://support.orerve.net/http/commander/profile
but on release, I guess it will be a mad scramble for everybody else, more than likely it will be set when starting a new game / loading for the first time, will be a bit odd if its still done via the website.
