'Unique' gear as rewards a la RPG?

Hi there,
I was thinking while playing those PvE battle royale/CTF with Odyssey, that being rewarded with some sort of 'unique' (or at least partially pre upgraded) suits/weapons by the faction you just helped to wind would be a nice alternative, so you could actually advance your upgrades by playing the gamemodes themselves more, and running after materials less.

I had good memories from old solo games like Morrowind, you helped a NPC for a simple sidequest, they gave you a unique piece, that was basically the exact same base model except it had its own inspiring/badass/funny name, and maybe en enchantement or a slightly better stat of some sort... Pretty much nothing but a bit of RP and immersion as if you actually interacted with a ''thankful'' NPC.

As I'm less than a year onto ED now, I guess someone else might already have suggested something like that in the past, but anyway, I'm still curious about your thoughs.

We used to have unique gear for ships. Almost everyone agreed that was terrible.

+1 for better NPC interaction though. It would be more in keeping with the game for ground CZs to be lootable for mats in some way after a battle.
 
We have a non-unique but restricted ship as a reward for some players, demands for that to be released to everyone has been going on for years. I can't imagine how long after implementation it would take for demands for access to unique gear and weapons to appear on the forums, the reason I can't imagine it is because I can't imagine a time period that small, I mean it would nothing on planck second!
