Unique HQ's?

Was docking at my faction HQ yesterday and this thought came to mind. (My faction HQ is boring, bland and have nothing special, bad selection on ships and modules, bad prices on commodities, no special missions. Its COMPLETELY like any other station out there.)

Why arent the HQ's unique looking? Sure, making textures and models for 10 new stations will take time and effort. I get that. But surley they could just slap on the faction color on the station until new ones are made! :)

Thoughts?

That sounds fun. I would be ok with that, but maybe in a while. There is a lot to come and decorating seems to me to be a back burner kind of thing.

Thats the problem witth all faction and superpower HQs... No only they have nothing special, but they actually are worse than average systems.

Frankly I'd expect Nanomam to be a fleet HQ filled with capital ships and with debris rings full of wrecked imperial clippers, but that's just me.

HQ's should have some cap ships for defence at least it is ridiculous to have the HQ camped by commanders from other factions and there be no response. Where are the cap ships? Where are the security forces!?!?!?

And their service economy should mean high consumption, low production, with good prices to sell, bad prices to buy. And should be the faction / power top of their might, and not be filled with only charity missions, lousy shipyards and even worse outfitting.

Maybe sometime in the future also have some exclusive services, like bounty brokerage, etc.

Something visually distictive would also be nice.

And like Henri said, should be the most secure system for the factions members. Right now a faction home system is constantly camped with enemies, it doens't make sense at all, I am interdicted more times in my own HQ system, than in any of the enemy factions HQ (I actually went to all of them to see for myself).

It should have been like that just from the beginning of PP but, you know... haste makes waste.

Instead of spending time and resources on creating 10 unique station environments for faction capitals, we could instead create 10 station environments to enrichen the universe, increase variation, and give a better feeling of political and cultural differences.

With 10 new station environments, we could (for example) have:

- New environment for military systems
- New environments for the three capital systems
- New environment for feudal worlds (currently the generic independent environment)
- New environment for communist worlds (currently the generic independent environment)
- New environment for tourist stations
- New environment frontier and terraforming stations
- Maybe an entirely new station type? (although this is probably more work than just creating a new environment) We still don't have the orbital cities from the older games.

I think these changes would be much more enriching than just creating unique PP HQ environments. And why work on these anyway? It's not like they really matter outside PP anyway; last time I checked, Hudson's HQ wasn't even in the Federation.

I like those suggestions, but I think capital systems also should have something distinctive that was not just visual. Or at the mere least, not provider worst services than average systems.

You go to earth, or achenar, or any PP faction capital and you will always find:

-Lousy shypiards.
-Terrible outfitting with only low tier modules.
-Terrible trading buy / sell prices. Service economies should mean high consuption and demand, and very low production, so one should be able to sell at good prices, but not buy.
-Almost only charity BB missions. Now this one is really special... Superpower HQ are like refugeee camps...

Faction and superpower home systems are all consistently poor in all regards, which mean they are that way because they were designed to be that way. Its not random. Now why are they intentionally this way I cannot fathom...

HQ systems should be something worthwhile to travel to.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Anything to make the factions more unique and interesting is great in my book. Its a great idea, OP.

Making them spawn tiny amount's of PP NPCs would be nice. Trip from Nanomam star to Gresley dock usually means I get interdicted 2 times.

more unique stations / interiors is for me something of a priority
it would go a long way in giving the galaxy some actual character and personality
variation in line with population / industry & economy / faction

currently - once you're inside the letterbox or the docking bay, you could literally be anywhere. it' so monotonous, stale, boring, uninspiring....
i suspect creating new assets is probably a long way down the list for the FDevs though :-(

I agree, more fluff would add quite a bit of character to the game. Perhaps some of the CQC assets could be used for this sort of thing.

Station flipping kinda throws a spanner in the works a bit.
Maybe if they disallowed the main Powers HQ from changing might open the door more to the idea. Would seem silly for a Station controlled by the Independents to have a Federation Logo on it like Nanoman used to be.
I have no issues with all other stations being flipped and I'd love to see Big ships and Fleets of friendly ships lurking, making the HQ's a very dangerous place for opposing Powers players.
Dunno how they could really decorate the inside beyond maybe a few Power logo's here and there, considering how they're designed but there should be room on the outside for something.
