Unknown Structure Scan

I have been here before at the thargoid base and now that i am back i was able to land next to the entrance.But as you can see from the pictures a new way-point is added as i approached the moon.Is this normal ? It is intentional ?
Are we finally going to see way-points on planets?

Once you've scanned a POI, it becomes a waypoint that you can target from your left hand screen. This lets you find it again.
