While I know I'm not the first to discover these 'trees' I thought I would create a post cataloging the few pieces of information I've gotten from visiting this site.
There are only 4 different 'growths' I've seen on the trees so far. Mussidaen Seed Pods, Phloem (flem) Excretions, Polyporous Growths (mushrooms), and the cordycep growths. The phloem excretions seem to be identical to those found in Colonia.
Scanning the pieces with the SRV Scarab scanner does not show any results, and does not seem to affect them at all.
Shooting them, however, yields somewhat interesting results. They seem to all drop materials when shot off, namely those used in synthesis and engineer upgrades. They do not seem to differentiate between those found on planets in rocks and those found here.
Shooting the Cordycep Growths off of the trees drops them as 'Very Common Elements'. So far I have had Iron, Nickel, and Sulfur drop.
The Mussidaen Seed Pods seem to drop 'Very Rare Elements'. So far I have had Mercury drop.
The Polyporous Growths (mushroom) seem to drop medium rarity elements. So far I have had Chromium Drop.
