Engineers Unlock requirements for Broo Tarquin and Didi Vatermann are set too high

Broo is listed as pulse and bursts, he also does beams as they were highlighted when I docked (no idea to what rank for any of them) I will have this unlocked over the next few days but with something so extremely tedious i'm hardly rushing it :p

Also the crime spree I'm going to unleash on Fujin when i'm done with this tea will be legendary, this mechanic would fail the "is this fun" test within 10 minutes let alone 15 hours.

Thanks for the info :)

Is it just me or don't you think that the requirements to gain access to both engineers are very excessive? 200x Lavian Brandy and 100x Fujin Tea needed just to UNLOCK them. They are RARE commodities after all and thus merely available in very limited stock. Doing myriad rare trading runs before the micro-material grind-fest even starts is utter nonsense to me, or is there any other way to acquire these goods more rapidly?
What is their stock limit? and again remember it isn't meant to be instant access, if you just do some trade rounds those numbers seem fairly easy to get in a few rounds?

Fujin tea stocks 1-2 up to a maximum allocation of 10

Did the stock levels change. All I'm seeing is 1 tonne available of Lavian brandy. FD, you can take a running jump if you think I'm doing 200 runs of that.

It is 'easy' to do; just as easy as getting the Soontil relics, meta alloys, or gold for the other engineers. The difference is those can be completed in a single run, and this one takes possibly as many as one hundred runs.

Workers of Lave liberals are at war in flechti which has probably reduced the stock. Even then it's usually only about 7 at a time.

Unfortunately both warring factions in flechti are currently at 1% so the war could take a while to timeout.

1. Equip a ship with 200+ cargo cap.
2. Equip collector and hatch breaker limpets.
3. Having a cargo scanner is a nice-to-have, but optional module.
4. Equip FSD interdictor.
5. Go to Lave.
6. Interdict trading ships.
7. Liberate cargo.
8. Collect only the brandy.
9. Stop once you get 200 items.

Anyone truly tried this? How often you get lavian brandy drops from those transports. I did some cargo scanning in close by systems and found nothing there.

I very much doubt any transporters in lave carry lavian brandy, most rares are next to impossible to find off freighters.

I tried a piracy approach with both cigars and Fujin tea, 0 instances of either showing up as cargo both outside the station that sold it and it SC in the system, nor have I seen them anywhere else for that matter.

The only 3 rares I see regularly are Master chefs, Evil Juice, Experience Jelly

I will edit in however that my Tea shipping was restricted by civil war, once that was over I could buy 8-10 at a time which cut my restock time considerably, if you have a 50ly Asp you could do this one in 5 jumps ish it'd probably take around 3 hours.

Nice, good to know. You and I had come to the exact same time calculation and conclusion (i.e. to hell with this). I don't mind 10 trips of 10 (all that much) if I don't have to sit and refresh.

Sadly I grinded through it in a python, 11 jumps there 11 back to find out the guy didn't even do Rank 5 of a weapon -_- nor does he give an invitation to another engineer, I feel a little bit griefed but it was probably my just punishment for doing an activity I knew full well was horrendous.

So it is clearly up to the players to unlock this rare commodity again. This has already been done in Ngurii with the Soontill Relics as far as I know. So I think it can be done again.

This has been very cleverly implemented by FD to point players towards the BGS. The community initiative to liberate rare goods might have inspired them to do so. :)

As a side note, which type of weapon are you looking for the rank 5 for. Some weapons don't have a rank 5 upgrade. At least they didn't in the beta with the fishes.

Word of advice on rares - you can get more than the "max allotment" by "placing" your current cargo in space, dock and pick up more, and then leave and pick up the ones you dropped. You can get up to 20 extra that way (any more and they will start to self destruct). It'll save some back and forth travel, but of course you still have to wait for the commodity respawn.

And yeah, it's the worst kind of gameplay. At least, while you're doing it, refresh the bulletin board. Heck, perhaps do some deliveries while waiting just for the money and boredom killing.

Ya but you have to know how to time it because your cargo will disappear faster than the market will respawn. You also have to dump it far out because the security will destroy it if they see it. Plus the amount of time it takes to wait for refresh is comparable to the time it takes to make the run, so it's hardly a change to the massive amount of time required to invest.

Has anyone verified if pirating sector haulers still works? I heard they removed that over a year ago.
