Unlocking the Type 7 to full potential

It would be nice to see the Type-7 brought to its full glory. Would make it a far more competitive ship, without making any other ships obsolete.

I do agree, as I wrote in a separate for same suggestion (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...se-lower-it-s-height-to-make-it-a-medium-ship!), there is simply a big gap in freighter ships between
Type-6 : 1mln - 112cargo, pad M
and
Type-7 : 17mln - 304cargo, pad L
Where Python : 56mln - 292cargo, pad M
I can see a lot of people asking and discussing this with a really great arguments so I hope this change is really possible and will be considered by Frontier.
And again "Why everyone should go for python? We should have alternatives because then, the gameplay is simply better and we can fly and invest into multiple ships rather than different python configurations...."
I like to have multiple ships, each for different role rather than changing loadout of a one ships. For CQ and new wings quests, Type-7 would be a really great M-pad ship.
This is also great alternative for new players. They can got with the much cheaper freighter and help in CG because every ton matters.

Ironically, it's the exact opposite problem of the clipper thread - the Type-7 has the fittings of a large ship but the art assets of a medium.

You would have a point there, except for the fact that the Python exists and is as good, if not better, a trader than the T7.

Fully support the Type-7 getting its 5th small hardpoint installed, especially now that it has the power and distro to support it.

On the other hand, I just remembered that Type-9 got extra size 8 slot. Maybe something similar like another size 6 slot could be added for type-7? Then it could stay as large ship and have better cargo capacity?

Maybe, but you would still have a situation where the best cargo ship on medium pads is a multipurpose.

And, soon as you have the budget, you would quickly trade your Type-7 for a Type-9 since it has so much more cargo for the same large pad size.

Both FGS and FAS are medium pad with 23m in height. Type-7 has 2m above that limit.

I'm in ever that Type-7 receive a subsequent cargo boost but stay Large pad.

I was always in favor Type-7 to be medium pad, but i don't see FDev redesigning it.
