I had to admit - I liked the old lighting.

I don't dislike the new stuff so much that I'm going to rage quit or anything, but I preferred the old.

I didn't like the removal of the 2.1, I think, GodlikeNPCs, but hey ho, I got over it.

Should add. After a few days with it, it needs to be toned down. Its just how it is.

Fantastical twist. Yes. If you like that kind of thing in a game with space sim roots, you can enjoy that now in Elite. Doesn't make it fit the philosophy of the game so far though. :D

I think I like it overall too, it seems a tinsy bit overdone at times but yes, generally, I think they've done a good job :) Certainly some of my local neighbourhood planets look pretty awesome and I'm looking forward to getting out and see how things look elsewhere.

This would be where the folks who put so much sweat into making the ED galaxy be THIS galaxy, and believable as such, grab their torches and pitchforks and storm the cubicle of the guy whose instagram postprocessing urinated all over their efforts.

We've chipped in for pizzas before, where do we sign up to contribute to the tar and feathers?

I also got a chance to fly in an asteroid belt today.

Holy crap... It's amazing. The clouds, the god rays, everything... This is why I got a 1060.

Pretty impressive for a card that's no more powerful than integrated graphics.

Before the update I logged out at titans daughter, Taygeta system. It was a normal looking planet with ice rings. I logged in after the update and it was a harsh neon pink planet with neon pink rings so bright I squinted at my monitor like it was a car headlight. I dont like it. It looks like what used to happen to CRT monitors if you held a magnet near them.

I like the greenish tint with being near to black holes. Makes some sense too with space-time dilation.

Other than that, hoping the bug gets sorted, but not a biggie for me.

My issues with the new exploration gameplay mechanics are much more pressing of a concern to me.

Overall, I do like it. It's simple a bit more saturated and contrasty. It's now the same thing Obsidian Ant's videos without the need to download an unofficial mod.

That being said, I'd love to see a toggle in the video settings for those who prefer the old style. Assuming the engine allows it.
