Unreasonable destruction?

Hi,

Having been killed by the station after getting a docking loitering warning I have to question the reason.:S

If I am late in docking then I get a fine, I accept that but why am I then destroyed by the station before I have time to complete the landing?

Consider this in RL, I park my car where I should not do so then I get a parking ticket, fine that is my fault but if it is ED I get warned then a SWAT team appears form nowhere and fills me and my car with bullet holes for parking too slowly.

Surely this is totally unacceptable in a game as I have docking permission so a fine is reasonable but not getting killed.!!!!

I have ticketed this issue as there still seems to be a bug when a warning is given when there is still docking time left to go.

Any thoughts?

If you can't dock in 10 minutes, get your butt back to the training section and learn. Make sure your ships nose is facing the tower, and is aligned with it's tail facing you on the holographic display.

I can dock quickly with plenty of time left normally and I was facing the correct way, the alignment circles came up then I was warned and then immediately destroyed, surely that is unreasonable, especially as there was at least 3 minutes left to go to dock!

Sounds like you were docking on the wrong landing pad. Make sure your pad number corresponds to the assigned pad on your hud.

Multiple pads are often lit up as multiple ships may be going through their docking sequence at the same time as you are.

Loitering warning is given when you are too close to a pad that isn't allocated to you (ie not necessarily anything to do with the docking timer).

Are you sure you aren't misunderstanding what is causing the warning?

If it is taking you more than a couple of minutes to dock you are definitely doing it wrong imo.

I agree the penalties are harsh. (Never a problem I have come across personally though, since most docking issues have been sorted and it's really easy in anything same or smaller than a Cobra.)
Perhaps a better system would be to rescind docking permission AND rights for a while at said station particularly if it is a busy station. Ships refused docking permission (or with rescinded permission) would then have 5 minutes to clear the station before they are trespassing with the usual lethal penalties.
Are you loitering in the entrance or on a pad that isn't yours?? Loitering in the entrance needs to be sorted QUICKLY by the authorities as it could be very dangerous if blocked either accidentally (or deliberately?).
I still get the occasional loitering warning flash up but it usually goes as quick as it comes - possibly due to overflying a neighbouring pad on final approach.

Sounds to me like you got the wrong bay.

As far as being harsh, well you are in a powerful armed ship inside a habitat you could do a lot of damage if you wanted to (not to the station itself but to the people and ships docked there) so if you don't respond quickly they don't take chances. What do you thing would happen if you flew into a countries airspace in an F-35 and then did not follow all the instruction you were given.

I play since the premium Beta and sometimes saw people reporting this problem. With me I had this problem only once during the Beta 3, as usual I did all the docking procedure correctly... It's really a rare bug of the game.

there is wanted pilots, crazy pilots, pirates, smuggler... a whole different kind of dangerous people trying to do stuff in those stations.

if you were security inside it, i can tell you that you won't take any chances and just shoot the trouble maker !

the women voice sometimes say it: "zero tolerance policy"

Hi Folks,

Thanks very much for the advice.)

It could have been that I was too far off the pad and that caused the destruction.8-((

I will be more careful in future....
