Unrestricted bindings.

I am just starting back in the game after a brief absence.

As soon as ED launched on Xbox I migrated over from pc and have played it almost exclusively ever since.
For the most part I have enjoyed it immensely.
So now after many thousands of hours accumulating experience, credits all the ships and rankings,
I only have one real problem; I can't fly my ship properly.

Sounds strange but it's true. The reason for this is my input choices.
Or to be more accurate my lack of choices.

Those of us determined to use gamepad controllers inevitably relinquish full continous control over our 6 degrees of freedom. This can of course be mitigated by custom bindings to alts but not altogether removed.

A step forward IMO would be to remove the restrictions within the binding selection menu.
Example; Why can't I bind bumpers to lateral thrusters in alt flight settings?

A full set of alt bindings wouldn't hurt either.
Why do only certain controls get the ability to toggle ?

What does everyone else think?

TL/DR. Please let us bind any function to any input.

Would be nice.
Having said that though, I have become accustomed to the custom controls I use, and it removes the need for any alternate flight controls.

Probably as good as it's going to get without getting a HOTAS or proper keyboard support, then a lot of non-combat related hotkeys can be moved off the controller altogether!

I have a full set of custom bindings and have already gotten rid of most non combat functions.
But I still can't operate the way i'd like to, or bind any function to any button.

We all need main throttle, pitch, roll , yaw, verticals and laterals simultaneously without using that go d-awful "roll into yaw" setting.
I can't stand this as it pollutes my fa off inputs and stops me from yawing counter to my roll direction.

I had a hotas but the twist yaw function crapped out way too fast so im back to square one.
Im anticipating a few rebuys getting myself dialed back in.

Ps. I suspect the most obvious answer is the correct one here.

Yeah, I have heard a lot of people having problems with the twist yaw on the HOTAS, bad build quality.

Couple of the guys I play with had that issue, on multiple HOTAS units.
For the price, you'd expect more than a month or so out of it.

On pc I used dual joysticks with voice attack so the gamepad layout is one that suits me.
But the loss of fine control coupled with less hotkey and axis functions is a kick in the nuts. Restricting bindings just hampers custom work arounds.
Going to start back in my viper or vulture and head to Sun Tu for some flight training.

Pretty sure it's a big case of "what you are used to".

Eventually it becomes intuition and you don't even realise you are pressing all these combinations!
