Horizons Unsafe surface temperature

If I'm about to land on the surface of a planet, what would be considered an unsafe surface temp? I can't seem to find any info on it. The temp is 42K for this planet. Would I survive down there in the SRV?

When landing on a planet look out for G's not surface temp as that is not an issue. Landable planets are airless and therefore they dont have an atmosphere.

Oh surface temps matter now. I was screwing around with my Clipper and was suddenly taking heat damage!!! 440m/s about 20meters off the deck when it happened. Loss 10% hull rapidly!!!!

So, it mattered to me last night :)

How hot was it? I've been able to land on some stupidly hot planets, with you out in the buggy it doesn't add up. It's a valid and sensible environmental threat

There must be quite a few planets out there that can't be visited. Betelgeuse 1 would be impossible to land on, even once they unlock to planet.

I've never landed on a planet so hot to melt my ship, however It happened to me I engaged FSD and took heat damage, maybe that planet was at the limit temperature.

you were charging your frameshift drive and even ice planets heat you up when you do that.
the OP asked

In which case temperature is just fluff text but then again that was already clear wasn't it?

I think it'd be possible with a DBE/DBS. Deactivate shields as soon as you touchdown for extra savings. Just have to land quickly and take off with a heat sink. :)

Not charging the FSD. But, boosting the crap out of the Clipper :)

reason your taking too much heat is due to gravity of the planet, your FSD is working harder to overcome the Gravity of the planet. Simple rule is higher the gravity the further you fly in normal space away from the planet before you jump.
