Unusually long range of colonization?

*I did miss something. The fact that the game was not displaying a nearby location in valid claim range as being inhabited.

Tell me I'm missing something here, but how could the claim for Col 285 Sector MT-Q c5-27 have been made when it appears well over 15ly from Col 285 Sector NT-Q c5-26 when that appears to be the only viable system from which it could have been made? Inquiring minds want to know... filter set to only show inhabited/claimed systems.

I have not been in there to check for myself but according to spansh the distance between both is 25.16 ly. Not the 15 that I just used to make a new claim, so by all existing/known logic this should not exist or be possible. And maybe this is more appropriate for one of the various 'official' colonization threads... but I'm somewhat concerned of it getting lost in there.

Damn. It's showing as available for colonisation, in other words?
Well, yes, but the game simply didn't display a neighboring system (Col 285 Sector AN-H something something) that was within 14.03 ly range to the shown one in my screenshot, though it showed up as an inhabited/new colony system since I made this thread. So no 25+ ly colonization for now (I wish, because then I wouldn't need to do another useless 6 outposts to an actually interesting location that I may not get as I want it purely because that player started with Canonn further on the fringes that I could have though judging by their carrier info they're not a part of it or the squadron at least... but I do believe they seem to have eyes on that local cluster as I do).

I didn't make my question terribly clear, sorry.
I meant the system you mentioned in this sentence: "Game is not showing a nearby claimed system as claimed or inhabited."
So if it was claimed but not showing as claimed or inhabited, I was wondering if it instead showed up as unclaimed and thus available for colonisation. In hindsight, that's probably not what you meant though...

Oh, yeah, it wasn't. I was talking about the system which that new claim with the primary port under construction was made from, which just showed as unclaimed in the galaxy map (incorrectly so I presume, but probably just a display issue on the server or my end, as the colonization ship referred to the supposedly unclaimed system as the origin location).

Don't think it hurt to be a little wary, given another... recent incident... but this one is perfectly legit.
