Upcoming Community Challenge - Animals from China

Will the Formosan Black Bear count?

Obviously Asian Black Bears are found in China, but this is specifically the one only found in Formosa (Taiwan). This raises a question, does Frontier adhere to the One China Policy? This has potential to anger either Taiwan or China, depending on if the black bear is included or excluded.

Who knew a video game about animals could get so political?

Frontier already has a confusing stance regarding China. A single Chinese poster made several threads ranting about the inaccuracy of the front-end globe biome map, and so they changed specifically China in v1.2 and stated plainly they wouldn't be changing anything else.

Haven't done the challenge yet, but from the Indian challenge from some time ago I know that all animals from a region don't count towards the challenge even if the Zoopedia says they do exist in said country. For instance red pandas did count towards the India challenge, even though Zoopedia doesn't specifically mention India, simply says Eastern Himalayas. However, the Himalayan brown bear did not count, when their range specifically mentions Northern India.

Its the same with the Snow Leopard, they dont count either towards the current challenge. Dispate coming from places like Nepal and Tibet.

I honestly would rather see political stuff like that kept out of games, unfortunately governments like China and such supporters will refuse to see such happening. The other issue is, such things like these threads often get brought to their attention and as such shouldnt be put in a public light for just that reason

Speaking as someone currently living in Taiwan, I think it's probably fair to say that the Taiwanese have more important things to worry about than Community Challenges in Planet Zoo. As has been commented, mainland Chinese unfortunately have strong incentives to problematize this sort of non-issue for social credit points (not literally, but close enough).

Given the complexities and sensitivities involved (indeed, Taiwan's official name is still ROC, Republic of China, a topic of constant debate within Taiwan) I don't blame Frontier for not touching this stuff with a ten foot pole.

For what it's worth, I'd say Let a Hundred Flowers Bloom (bad joke, but bonus points if you get it) and include as many animals as possible that could conceivably be found in China and environs.

Is there really only a Hat as a Reward (which I already had) or is there also a Shirt and Pants and did the previous Challenges also have Hats that I just missed?

This is why governments shouldn't worry about such things at all and let people do their own thing. Unfortunately not all governments are like that, they fuss about details like this. If left alone, the choices of random projects like PZ would fall in line with being neutral.

Question, all

How much do you have to contribute usually to get the rewards? I was just playing around in my franchise zoo and noticed I got a smidge of conservation points and it made me curious.

I think it was 13 Animals to get the Hat this Time. Normally it's less to get the Rewards. I think normally you get Pants at 5 and a Shirt at 10 but I'm not completely sure if these Numbers are correct

Ah, well I don't think I have enough time left - maybe next time :p
I was able to do it relatively fast in my Australian Zoo. First I've built a Enclosure with Chinese Pangolins and then I've got the Idea that I could put some of them also into the Koala Enclosure until the Challenge is finished. Maybe this helps you to get the Hat before it's too late

Does anyone know how many Animals I need to breed to get the highest Community Reputation? I've already bred 21 and still didn't reach it
