Update 1.1 has INCREASED my power consumption?? Now I can't deploy my weaps!

Before 1.1 my Viper was at a (deployed ) power output of 11.98Mw out of a max of 12.00 for my installed power plant (the largest I can fit in the vessel, incidentally!).

Now post 1.1 my deployed output has JUMPED to 12.99 (!), so my combat config is screwed, on top of that whereas before I had a chaff launcher with 31 ammo it's now....11!

Anyone else seeing this in their ship specs?? Is this a known bug?

Nope. Not a bug. Just some basic mechanics being changed. Shield Cells draw three times as much power now, and Shield Cells, and Chaff have a huge reduction in ammo, along with ammo costing a bunch more. Enjoy!

Shield cells you use more power now, so you need to lower the priority of the FSD and cargo hatch at the very least now.

Just use the module priority settings, for example my Conda was slightly over in power consumption post 1.1 but is now set to disable fuel scoop/cargo hatch when weapons are deployed, problem solved :)

Adding to this...I do think the way this was introduced was pretty brutal, and I know it has cost a lot of people their ships. The lack of specific numbers given to the players regarding these changes, along with no warning of potential implications...IE launching thinking everything is fine, and then arriving in combat, deploying hardpoints, and everything shutting down...quite the surprise as your ships get torn down around you.

I sold my Viper because of this power consumption issue, there just isn't enough power available with a D class warrant scanner, A class scanner, shield cell module, decent weapons etc (and this is with fsd/cargo/fuel scoop priority lowered)....until shield cells are removed from the game all together the viper is no longer viable to me. I'd be happy without cell banks if I knew no-one else would have them too and I personally think that's what should be done, remove them from the game!....onto a Cobra for attack duties for now.....

Yep I ended up having to do the same thing in mine.

Off topic: Do you happen to be the same VictoriaG from nexusmods?

just put FSD, and any module that's only usable in SC (interdictor, fuel scoop, etc) on a lower power group priority (larger number) than the weapons. I've been running a setup with 106% potential draw since launch with no issues. Weapons in power group 3, FSD modules in 4. anything FSD related turns off automatically once weapons are deployed. problem solved.

Caught me out a bit, but I already run my Cobra under-powered so had sorted out my module priorities - deployed my hardpoints and none of my scanners worked due to power shortage. Guess it might have caused a bit of a surprise if you have always pootled round with plenty of power before, but it wouldnt have stopped anyone retracting their hardpoints and jumping away again.

Actually you have a pointt there - I HAVE no cargo space, so why the hell am I even assigning power to the hatch? Lol

I suggest frame shift drive, fuel scoop etc. off, when hardpoints deployed aswell...

My viper is 13.13 out of 12.00 deployed and is working fine.

*Think* I'm sorted now. Perm'ed shut down the power to the cargo hatch (no cargo space!), and as I don't use the docking comp OR the fuel scoop with weaps deployed those stay off until needed. So I can keep my config as it is, and no need to ditch my Shield Cell bank :)

Enough said really .. even without the weapon changes in 1.1 you are borderline running out of electricity anyway ...

But if he lowered priority for fsd, cargo hatch and fuel scoops in the modules control screen he would likely be just fine...

It's when to get to mostly A rated and have decent weapons that even this doesn't help, better getting a cobra at that point....
