Planet Zoo - 1.3.2 Update Notes
General fixed

  • Added notification for vending machine breakdowns.
  • Added Red Kangaroos tags missing from small ball enrichment items.
  • Added South America and Australia tags to the Steam workshop.
  • Temperature, humidity, heaters and coolers UI fixes:
    • Added ambient temperature tool tip when hovering over the bar for heaters and coolers.
    • Fixed ambient zoo temperature tool tips not showing the appropriate number while set to Fahrenheit.
    • Added numeric display of the temperature value to the side of temperature slider bars.
    • When Exhibits are placed temperature is now set to match the ambient temperature.
  • Fixed an issue where vending machines can reach 0% maintenance and not break down.
  • Fixed vending machines breaking down more frequently than intended.
  • Fixed mechanics not repairing vending machines to full maintenance level.
  • Fixed mechanics not always repairing broken down vending machines after being called.
  • Fixed players being unable to exit "Terrain Stamp Tool" by pressing escape.
  • Fixed players not being awarded the free content Kangaroo costume.
  • Guest and staff navigation on paths with less than 4m width adjusted.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the players from re-colouring a group of scenery items.
  • Fixed an issue where selecting a colour on a double-clicked scenery item would close the colour picker.
  • Fixed animal colour variations (particularly timber wolves) being incorrectly labelled - the genetic colour of the animals will not change.
  • Fixed an issue where the best time for a Timed Scenario on the main menu would be different from the time achieved in-game.
  • Keepers assigned to two habitats are no longer counted twice in the assigned keepers section of the food tab.
Stability
  • Further crash and stability fixes.

Thank you for the quick fix on this. I had posted an issue in the issue tracker requesting some of the improvements mentioned here to the heaters / coolers / exhibits UI. Very happy customer here to have seen these implemented so quickly. Great job guys!

Great fixes 👍🏻👍🏻

What about the enrichment items?!
  • When the Elephants will be able to use the Tree Scatter Feeder again?
  • When the Ardvark will be able to use the natural termite mound?
  • When the food will be visible on the hanging graze feeders again?
  • When can we see other animals using the tog rope? At least the Wolves and African Wild Dogs?

I still get messages of vets and mechanics not being able to reach exhibits and some hungry animals. I tried to solve it manually and then save the game without any alert and load it again but after some time playing, some messages appear again.

Same issue, gues this wasnt really fixed the way they hoped. Bring on patch 1.3.3.

fix for color picker is handy.

But tbh, it does not make sense that there's no option in sandbox to turn off maintenance for the vending machines. So far, no mechanic has been needed if all 'no maintenance' options had been turned on. I would have assumed that this option makes it into the game once vending machines are overhauled.

Since the update today I encounter a new bug: Same zoo, nothing changed with management/staff/bins, same count of guests, no change on walkways, just building around some of my already existing exhibits and facilities. The last days everything went well. But since the update today guests are littering like crazy! Never encountered that before!

Edit: Followed some caretakers around: They are just walking by when guests had littered. Sometimes they pick up the litter, most times they don't. They are just "Strolling around" ("Läuft herum" in german).

Edit 2: Guest are littering much faster than before (they don't really seem to use the bins anymore) - so fast, the caretakers don't seem to catch up. You can watch in the heatmap the red circles plopping up as guests walk by. It's affecting all of my zoos (tried 3 different ones).

Edit 3: Just watched some guests getting stuck when "searching for a bin". Another guest I watched, carried litter in both of her hands and walked by 3 bins along her way, then she littered her left hand free, walked by another 4 bins and then freed her right hand, littering on the way.

What did you try to do ? I gave my suggestion to other people on discord and it seemed to help for most people.

Managed to fix it eventually - boxed all animals - removed the gate and attached road and placed a new one on the same spot. (you'll need to add it to a workzone again - because it's a new habitat. The animals should respawn at the gate when you do this. Sometimes such issues just happen and they need a little "reboot".
If it happens with all your habitats, don't know any other option.
I did this and it fixed it for me. While it's annoying and basically the death of those animals. If it's 1 habitat in your zoo it shouldn't be a huge problem to fix this on your own. Most likely it's a 1 time action on your part. Things just happen.
If you have multiple habitats in your zoo with the same issues - that's a problem.

I don't have time today to give feedback on the update, but I have time to say:

Thank you frontier-team for listening to our feedback and your work improving a game we like so much. Yes sometimes we complain here and there…
…cause we love the game and true love means, working on a relationship and taking the ups and down together😉

Thanks! I'll try this as a workaround if it happens again, but anyway if it is an issue this should be fixed. For now, the hunger problem only affected two habitats and on one I solved it putting the animals on the trade center and then putting them back on the exhibit. The other exhibit was full of flamingos and it was solved automatically when one of the flamingos died (it's strange because it was on sandbox and if I'm not wrong I deactivated the deaths).

My understanding is that it happens with older zoos (so zoos made before the update). My first zoo (day 1 zoo) had more issues than most zoos but it had already "suffered" from different updates as well. Most times it just needs a reset (or just selling and buying the same object again)
In my first zoo (and my only zoo) I still have the occassional drink/food stand that employees ignore.
When I replaced those - no issues after that.
My second zo never had that problem.

My point is; if it's a one time effort - it's not the end of the world. Just fix it that 1-time - there are worse bugs than that.
If it happens multiple times - it looks like a bigger bug and a bigger problem for most people.

Been asking for the option for no breakdown since launch, would definitely be usefull now. Good to see im not the only one wanting that.

And now I've got staff stuck on random waysections. They "moonwalk" right on the spot. If you raise them and drop them down in the same spot, they walk away.

There is a definite issue with bins since the update. Guests don't seem to be using them and just litter like crazy. There are five bins in shot in this attached pic, but as you can see guests are just chucking litter on the floor. Very frustrating!
Thank you for the speedy fixes Frontier - I hope this issue can be patched very soon. :)
