Right now, when we're approaching a station the air traffic controllers give us a callsign like:
<ship manufacturer> - <first 3 letters of our commanders name>
So, when im flying around in my Beluga, they call me "Saud Kruger, Mike, Echo, Tango"
Since the v2.3 update we have ship IDs tied to our ships, with the possibility to change them and have them painted in big fat letters onto our ships.
I would find it only logical if ATCs would now actually use those ship IDs when calling us on the radio.
They can leave the ship manufacturer name in, because it sounds nice...
For example, my Beluga Ship-ID is ME-13B - the ATC could call me "Saud Kruger, Mike, Echo, One, Three, Bravo"
My Corvette has ME-31C... if would convert into "Core Dynamics, Mike, Echo, Three, One, Charlie"
