Carriers, Proximity Chat, (Bookmarks are in game now). the updates that can still make the cut for 2016 !!
No depth, ED is a grind, boring, no-one around, is the common forum chatter !! UNTIL !!
Proximity Chat; a 5km spherical radio bubble, transmitted by all ships, (Carriers are hubs) all within the 5km bubble can talk with each other, closer too each other, clearer the sound, until you fly out of the bubble.
Proximity Chat , should just be that , line of sight , to understand the voice , your voice & theirs becomes more garbled the further you are away, until silence when either no radar contact is targeted , or your outside the range of their bubble
Example
Enter a system , its silent unless you happened to jumped in on top of players talking hanging out at that star.
You scan, see radar contacts, but only one of the player contacts is ' garbled voice static' heard, and only when you target the ship in your scan
The only time you will hear another player is when inside their bubble
Carriers
Carriers in the game , the benefits are.
Carriers explain how NPC magically appear in the middle of nowhere and never run out of bullets ,never break down
Carriers can be used as the communication hubs , for proximity chat , to expand the bubble for the wings up too 5 km
Carriers give weight and power to the game
Carriers allow wings to move all at once in one ship
Carriers are expensive
Carriers, are not a warships just containers that allows players too transport 3 ships too far away systems ,when YOU the player is not aboard, the Carrier will use micro jumps too escape been attacked , so stays in the same system as you
The Carriers
Station shuttle Carriers; allows you to move your ships from one system to another
System Carriers; can hold 3 ships , or one Wing, you can dock repair refuel rearm range of XXly
Fleet Cartel Carriers; huge ship has 100ly jump range, holds 6 wings
All NPC ships with Carriers in the game can now run out of ammo and fuel, so now must get re- supplied
Carrier can run out or low thus need to re-supply at stations
Carriers , are the moving platforms for ships , carriers allow NPC ships to re fuel re-arm repair
If you see an enemy wing you can be sure a Carrier is near by As Carrier Wings will make Combat attack craft , allowing the carrier to be the FSD transport
so with Carriers in the game , Fighter craft , really become fighter craft, as they are not wasting anything when been built on FSD or Fuel
Last thoughts
ED not boring or a grind , just there's no-way for groups of players to communicate with each other quickly with voice knowing that whom your talking with is also close by, with Carriers , and Bookmarks. Players are able to move around remember where they have been and talk to anyone passing by, too wing up, or shoot them [big grin]
