Just turned my computer on to download the update. Last week has been on Xbox.

Update seems to be taking an age to download. Everything else is downloading at normal speeds.

Just curious if anyone else experienced slowness to their 3.0 download.

I did, especially the initialization part, where it seemed as if the launcher had crashed. I *think* that it may be related to hdd access speed. I notice that the downloader doesn't say "downloading" or whatever, but "syncing files", so I wonder if some of that slow down is actually the launcher accessing your Elite files locally to see what needs to be downloaded.

A great way to check if its your hdd is hit control and escape to bring up the task manager, and then select the performance tab and click on the resources button (or resource manager, something like that). This will bring up a diagnostic window with, among other things, your disk activity. You will notice somewhere an indicator for "disk queue", if this is several seconds long, your launcher is having trouble reading/writing files and this is likely the reason for your slow download rate.

My internet causes all sorts of slowness. Lol

But no, magically 3.0 downloaded overnight, despite the fact it shouldn't have been able too.

Maybe I stole your internoots!

You make a valid point. I only have HDD. No SSD in my system. And yes I just noticed it says sync, not download. Thoughts?

I think it always says "syncing", but the terminology got me thinking that maybe there's more to the process than just pulling the files down from the servers. I too only have regular disk drives, and it tends to be the bottleneck when I experience slow down now that I've upgraded my gpu.
