I want to say a big THANK YOU to Frontier Development team (and Oculus team also) this patch combined with Oculus software and latest nvidia drivers is such a HUGE step forward with the DK2 that I couldn't believe. Things are a lot sharper now (compared Oculus 0.5 SDK) even without sweetfx sharpening and the immersion has really improved.
The waiting for the CV1 is bearable now.
How did you replace the screen in my DK2 with a new one during the update ?![]()
Just downloaded the Oculus software (seems no separate runtime available anymore in developer area), but that couldn't find my DK2, and the for the sensor it complained about it being on a USB 2 port (though it is on USB 3, tried both directly on motherboard connecter, and on a powered USB hub). Then tried to install latest Nvidia drivers, which won't install for me for some reason... ugh... guess I will try again tmw morning
How are you other DK2ers faring?
Edit: A few restarts later, and manually downloading etc, at least the latest Nvidia drivers installed now...
Edit 2: Latest Nvidia drivers messed up some other games for me now too... so am rolling back
We are seeing amazing an performance with 1.3 & the latest ED patch (with Nvidia VR drivers) You can run everything on Ultra including shadows on planets, super smooth.
Post over the on the VR forum, if you are having trouble, I think a couple of people had the same issue - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=69
After rolling back to to the previous drivers things are fine for me too (those latest drivers from yesterday messed up other games for me). And yes running really smooth and looking pretty (980 Ti SLI)
I have a DK2. Installed the new nvidia driver (original Titan GPU), installed the new 1.3 version Oculus runtime/software, enabled unknown sources in it (after it complained for ED), ran the game and it was running perfectly. It even gave me a mirror window. And it seems a lot faster/smoother now. If you are having problems, there could be something wrong with your general windows install. Also, in my case, no USB3 ports are used whatsoever - it's all on USB2.
I've been away from the game for a few months because of the mining bugs (empty hoppers not filled) and the mission bugs (getting super-scanned inevitably). I've tried looking through the forums to see if there's been a fix but can't see that it's happened. This update looks great for VR players but no mention of mission/mining fixes. Was this fixed in a previous update that I haven't seen yet? I'm tempted to saddle back up again but don't want to waste time and rep on broken smuggling missions. Can anyone give me an answer? Thanks CMDRs
Seems like the overall gamma is much higher with the new patch / direct mode. That might be part of the reason everyone sees so much of a difference in the DK2 image?
What's the default gamma? Ignoring the black smear issues, I moved my gamma slider down from 50% to 25% and it seems closer to what I remember before.

Let me guess... still no fix for the hostage/delivery missions? Yeah! I won!
It has ONLY been 5 months... good job...NOT
Thank god Eve Valkyrie is on...
sad sad...
I haven't noticed that one, and I mine fairly often. What're the particulars? I'm on PC, BTW, if you're on Xbox that might be why I don't see it.
