Why am I not getting the game updated through the Epic Games store? I have it set to auto update. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but I'm still stuck on a version that's pre-1.0. I'm on version .94514. Is there a way to transfer the purchase to Steam so it updates correctly?

There will be no way to transfer your Epic copy to Steam as they are rival companies .
