Modes Update to "elitedangerous.com"....

Love the updated wording;

https://www.elitedangerous.com/features/fight said:
If you choose to fly in Open Play you’ll encounter other commanders in a galaxy where friendly fire is always on. Rogue commanders are those pilots who have betrayed the Pilots federation by turning on their own; those pilots can carry huge bounties, making them prime targets for skilled hunters.

"If you choose to fly in Open Play"

The trading rules are simple and universal: buy goods cheaply where they are most common and sell them where prices are high. Supply and demand drives prices, and every trade you make affects the markets for every player on every platform.

"and every trade you make affects the markets for every player on every platform"

Frontier seem to want to push the idea that playing with others is a choice and the game is multi platformed.

Which is like it always was.
A clear statement, Frontier standing by its original design.
I like the new site.
It appears, nowadays every game gets trendy colors ....

I'm impressed, and frankly this change of advertising now confirms all modes are valid.

There are some things I disagree with there, as I do think BGS should be Open-only, but I'm not the GM. It's not my call at the end of the day.

I can't seem to find the "or just hunt other commanders" line....

.... it seems to now be "or hunt the galaxy’s most-wanted criminals".

Piracy gets a mention though: "The most daring pirates can extort other commanders or use limpet drones to extract cargo straight from their target’s hold, and sell the loot at a local Black Market."

I love when companies add "easter eggs" to things.

Between "huge bounties" (good one FDev) and "very no amount" (thanks Yoda), we as a community are having a great old time with the new site.
What a way to bring people together, by letting us take the mick out of them for the holidays.

And it's gotten people new and old to the game, reading the marketing information. Clever move there ;)

Greetings Robert

I deleted it from my first post, seemed to be so obvious....not to beat an old horses, poor soul.
But here we go Robert:

Fight

Arm yourself. It's a cutthroat galaxy out there.

It’s a cutthroat galaxy out there and you’ll need combat skills to survive. Whether you’re a trader, miner, explorer or dedicated combat pilot, you’ll need to be ready to stand your ground and fight.

They put it on top of everything ...first and foremost ... ;)

Killing players, still, works like a charm, bounty hunting players not so. And Pirating players is, still, a joke.

Perhaps they work on their features a bit more, making them viable?

The "Fight" text is, largely, mode agnostic - and includes, as mentioned above, "If you choose to fly in Open Play you’ll encounter other commanders in a galaxy where friendly fire is always on.".

While it says "you’ll need to be ready to stand your ground and fight", it does not necessarily mean that combat is either inevitable or that the CMDR requires to engage - I have not yet found that necessary on my latest alt-CMDR - as it has not fired a shot at anything other than a rock.

While all you say is true and I agree there, the statement doesn't necessarily meaning PvP in "Open". No, but "knowing one's Pappenheimer" in Open, make it sound like a warning.

Hi Dietger, hope you are keeping well.

The updated information has nothing to do with the mode system, as even in Solo it is a "cutthroat galaxy" due to the NPCs attack all players.
Even in my trade Cutter I get attacked by NPCs and have to use my combat skills to survive - and I'm in PGs mainly.
So while it may be a warning, it isn't one for PvP as Solo players will still need their skills due to NPC attacks.

Best Wishes

Thank you for your kind address.

PvE it is now? No surprise here.

The same text goes on: "Rogue commanders are those pilots who have betrayed the Pilots federation by turning on their own; those pilots can carry huge bounties, making them prime targets for skilled hunters." - which quite clearly implies PvP, in my opinion.

Plus the mouseover texts for the three game modes in the start menu now remind the player each time they start the game (if they bother to read them, that is):

Open Play said:
In open play you can encounter any human commanders also using open play.
Private Group said:
In a private group you can only encounter human commanders who have been invited by the private group's owner.
Solo Play said:
In solo play you will not directly encounter human commanders.

No, they don't with "FDev approved" 15 seconds delayed menu log...
