Updated PlanCo Dictionary (and Pronunciation)

I know that a PlanCo Dictionary was released, and as good as it is, it's kinda outdated when compared to PZ.

"Why?"

Because, even though some animals get translated, not all do, like more obscure names like the binturong

So, devs, players, random people across the street, how does a PlanZoo Dictionary sound? Worst case scenario, we, the players, make up words for the in-game animals...

And also how should it be pronounced

I would love that, I prefer to play using Planco language but it's difficult without a more specific zoo-related vocabulary

Here is the link to the original dictionary for anyone interested, there are a few relevant words in there like "Muupah" (animal), "Norpo" (arctic), "bon" (bear), "felino" (cat) etc. So certainly one option for the animals would be to combine what planco words we have to make compounds that describe the animals e.g.

African Buffalo = "Zuuzfolbu" e.g. Sleepy beef
Asian Short-clawed Otter = "Selev-wanomestel" e.g. Sleek water show
Giant Otter = "Arnda-wanomestel" e.g. Giant Water Show
Bengal Tiger = " Tibrasterfelino e.g. Stripy scary cat
Fennec Fox = "Eivfilb" e.g. Elf fox (for the big pointy ears)

Yeah, good idea:

Norbobon = polar (Arctic) bear
Norbofilb = polar (Arctic) fox

Interesting that they use felino, which is a literal translation for feline in Spanish

But that isn't needed because the animal names in Planco are the ones you see in the billboards, along with the scientific name.

Just as a side passion project for the past month, I have been putting together an updated Planco translator app. I have been using words from the old dictionary, as well as words from PZ that I found on a google sheet from someone in the past. I have been also trying to implement word prefixes and suffixes, as well as compound words.
I came onto the forums to try to see if there is some updated things for the dictionary (that I see you guys talking about), and decided to make an account to let you guys know about this little project 🙂.
I have found that there are some missing words that we could make up if we would like to.

Here is an update for the little Planco translator project that I have been working on. I have been through a few iterations of the translator, and now (hopefully) have a finished algorithm where it takes compound words, prefixes, and suffixes. For instance, rail = liita, derail = uumliita, and derailed = uumliitaen.
I have also added a quiz option. I have added some specific quizzes (like numbers, common words, placements, etc.), and on them, you can choose for it to give you the English word, or the Planco word, and you have to try and guess the other one from 3 options.
I don't think that I will be releasing it publicly without permission from Frontier, but other than that, I don't know what else I would like to do with the project at this time.
If you guys have any ideas, let me know! Have a great day everyone!

Hayo all!
I use PlanCo in my zoo but haven't been checking the PlanCo Dictionary (https://www.planetcoaster.com/planco-dictionary) recently, but it seems that the dictionary has a huge update with a lot of Planet Zoo words! Last time I checked they weren't there!

Hope this helps for you all and sorry if I bumped a tread, but I didn't want to open a new one while it was being discussed here...

You are right, thanks a lot for the great news!! Now we have translations like "grasslands" and "babirusa" that clearly weren't before. It must be a very recent update, from this year with the Oceania or Eurasia DLCs.
[Happy in the outside but worried in the inside about this being another sign of the game's doom in the short term]
