Updated to 0.7

As much as I love Elite in VR, I am not going to continue to run old runtimes anymore solely for ED. Upgraded last night and 0.7 is great so far. Got DCS working straight away, feels amazing to fly in a Huey. ETS2 also runs super smooth. Sure there isn't that much that runs on it just yet although Dirt Rally was working as well but part of having a DK2 is to be part of the group to test the runtimes.

Besides, there is still plenty of trading and my long planned exploration trip that I can do in 2D.

Even if I wanted to switch between 0.7 and 0.5/6, it's too much hassle as I have an Nvidia card and would have to uninstall and reinstall drivers everytime. Not worth it.

Looking forward to being able to dogfight in VR in ED again but until then, fly safe.

I couldn't play this game without vr. It just wouldn't be the same.

So how well does DCS fly with the .7 runtime? Last time I tried flying my P51 with the DK2, the eye strain was unbearable. Although I really enjoyed the feeling of flight, getting those butterflies in the stomach on a fast and low dive.

I thought this once but I must say I am enjoying the game more on my monitor again. Don't get me wrong, the rift is amazing but the limitations of the DK2 are getting in the way. Lets face it the ED interface was never designed for VR. Also as per a previous post I'm done holding the runtime version back just for ED. FD are clearly not supporting the rift until 1.0 is released and maybe then they might include a proper VR interface.

I've tried the P-51, Huey, A10-C and the SU-25T and they all run really smooth on my GTX780 on lowish to medium settings. The dials and instruments are pretty clear, all in all a great experience.

Can you read the HUD in the A10 and use the avionics? Last time I tried it was unusable in that plane

I'm not an expert in the A-10 but the HUD is readable in the sense that you can make out the targetting symbols, navigation lines etc. It is still hard to read numbers etc but maybe you can use the zoom function? At work now so can't check myself.

I agree with you, there's no doubt that ED in VR is astonishingly good, personally I love it for combat as the ability to keep track of your enemies is brilliant and it feels like you're in a Star Wars movie. I have also spent a lot of time trading in VR and that is great too however trading and exploring are both activities that have advantages in playing in 2D, specifically I can watch YouTube/Twitch/movies at the same time, while also reading reddit etc on my other screen.

Not entirely sure of the point of this thread. To tell everyone that you are no longer playing ED with the rift? Is it some sort of tantrum?

Being an Elite Dangerous forum I'm not sure we care about your experiences playing other games.

have been using this for a few weeks, flawless switcheroo from 0.6-0.7
instant, no restart or uninstall, just computer trickery

now i can play elite dangerous and at the flick of a switch playclub...i mean dcs world
