Updates are annoying that I registered here just to say so

Stop updating the launcher and game so regularly it is really peeving me off. I have an hour to sit down and run a few missions and almost every time I do I spend 30-45 minutes updating something - stop it NOW. Save up numerous compulsory updates and do them once every now and then. My bandwidth is fairly limited, but it's the best that is available here so I am literally sitting down and only updating the launcher. I will be asking for my money back very soon. I am original Elite player and love the grind and thought of navigating real space, but I'm not doing that at all.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

But seriously, I cannot believe that someone old enough to play the original Elite could be so completely infantile.

I had asked for them to specify the size of the update on each patch, so I know whether to make a cuppa, or to go to bed. Instead, I have a '5h' indicator which appears on every single update, even if the update then clears 10 minutes later. A time indicator is obviously based on the speed of my connection, but gives no more information as to how long in actual time the update will take to apply!

Most of us know the speed of our internet connection, so it would be easy enough to work out update duration if the stated update size is 10, 50 or 500MB...

First of all we had less tan an update per week recently. Assuming arguendo that updates are so numerous why don't you launch the game in advance, say in the morning, to update it and play later?
Anyway it is the first time I see someone complaining about FD doing a good job adding features and fixing bug ;)

I agree. The size of the update would be great. As for the timer it is clearly broken. Well at least I am always happy to see my game went through the process in less than 5h :D

The game is going to get updated regularly. Learn to live with it. There are big releases (currently about once a month) and then smaller patches. The big ones can take a while to download, the patches are very quick. If you play fairly infrequently, get into the habit of opening the launcher when you DON'T have time to play. It takes a few seconds (when you are doing something else anyway) to log in and see if there is an upgrade waiting for you. If there is, start it running. Then when you have time to play, you will usually be up to date, and not have to wait.

Ed said he'd put it to the developers, but then the '5h' prompt turned up instead. Hopefully this can be further refined.

Okay, let me get this straight, you want to stop upgrading the game because you have a poor internet connection. Okay, no problem, I will e-mail the other 49,999 that dont have a problem to tell them the game will never be updated because you have a poor internet connection. Cant see a problem there.
Oh, and dont go out for a walk today, you may trip over your bottom lip.

Lol...takes about 2 minutes to update for me...i feel bad for your internet.

So you're asking to not fix things just because you have a slower connection? Reminds me of that short film called "2081", you should watch it...

OP just proved people whine about everything.

As soon as FD stops updating the game OP will be the first to complain about an unfinished game.

I think the update timer and progress work in a slightly non intuitive way. I think the bar is basically your whole game install. The estimated time at the start would be to download the whole client. As it progresses it realises some bits aren't updated and speeds through, obviously for small updates this is quite confusing because we start with a 5hr estimate for a 10 minute update! It alsoe explains the slightly weird apparent downlaod speed, which I think is in fact update speed. If there is no update to be done to a part(s) then we may get gigabytes done in no time hence the strange numbers.

I'm afraid that I entirely disagree with you. They should fix bugs as soon as they can so that the people who suffer from them can play free from those bugs. I also find it irritating but I understand why they do it and entirely agree with their release process.

As a suggestion for you to get around your issues, as you only get an hour to play try updating your client outside of that hour. So, when you're eating dinner or as soon as you get home from work. There are ways for you to work around this and as more bugs are fixed the minor releases will reduce and your delays will lessen with that reduction.

Please be patient. They don't do it to annoy you. They do it to help the majority of players.
