Updates: Bo Updated a Couple Things (Indestructible Jeeps and Animation Fixes) in Reddit

https://www.reddit.com/r/jurassicworldevo/comments/8gmkjg/the_worst_thing/

Personally,

I can't wait to see the fixed animations and updated gameplay!!! I promise to pre-order immediately as soon as I see the former! But of course, need to be a proper fix though...

However, I still feel strongly that jeeps CAN NOT be Indestructible. I understand the claim that destructible jeep mean havoc to management gameplay - being the primary focus. What I suggest would be:-

1) A durable, but ultimately destructible jeep - etc. can takes more than 5 severe hits, and get repaired when back in station.
2) Frequency of attack depends on:-

- The state of Dinosaur - agitated or not
- Experience of the ranger team
- Equipments of the ranger team - avoidance beacon etc.
- Long-term Relationship between the dinosaur and Ranger team

In sum, no matter what the arguments are, I can't think of any reason on earth to take away the THRILLING VULNERABILITY feeling of destructible jeep. This FEAR is essentially what makes Jurassic Park/Dinosaur special, stand out to be the fearsome respectable animals. Please...consider this again.....don't take this away.......

I just wish the Dinosaurs would chase and attack the vehicle. I want to have to escape a Rex or a have a Triceratops charge and possibly ram the jeep.

I don't mind that the jeep and the chopper are indestructible, I think we will have enough to worry about when disaster strikes without having to babysit the rangers and ACU team.
When one or more dinosaurs break out, I like to repair the fence and contain the dinosaur(s) asap, if you have to do that while also constantly looking over your shoulder to see how your rangers and ACU team are doing this might be to much.
I can see both teams getting destroyed while it happens and before you know it all dinosaurs break out and there's nothing you can do about it because your jeeps and choppers keep getting destroyed by the dinosaurs.
I don't mind a challenge but not to a point were you are powerless to do anything about it, the movies always have a (kind off) happy ending, I want that also for my park.

I totally forgot to take a moment of appreciation. Thank You Bo and Frontier for listening and responding to the fans. It feels warm. [praise]

PCMR4Life, according to the developers (2 of them actually. I couldn’t recall who they are; will find out at a later time and post it here), the Dinos can actually charge the jeep, knocking it off course. Personally, I haven’t seen any of such footage but on one scene, an Edmontosaurus did seem to chase a jeep away as the youtuber kept honking and driving at her. It didn’t look like a locked-down long-pursuit type of chasing though. It’s more like a – Shoo! Go Away! Leave me alone….

Nonetheless, after all, it would be meaningless isn’t it? To have visual animations going without actual consequences of damageable vehicles.

Lora Craft69, Thank You for your elaboration! I think I got a better sense now regarding the claim. Honestly, as I haven’t played the game, it would be unfair to underestimate the excitement level of being in a disastrous tornado storm. Hence, I mostly agree with you under such circumstances.

But still, I do hold that a slim chance of Dino-attacking must be in place - perhaps at a much lower rate of 1 out of 20 times under storm? That can come along with automated air support from ACU and helicopter deployment of reserved ranger jeep (at a punishing cost of course) in cases of rare brutal attacks.

I hope people can see this – while it is OKAY to have a chance of attack as low as it can be (just to not bringing the game to a tormenting level of game over), but to completely ELIMINATE it means dragging the game OUT to an entirely different realm – an unrealistic one that partially break game immersion.

For normal/peaceful time though, I prefer to see a higher chance of Dino-attacking the jeeps while the ranger team is performing their routine tasks. Take a moment to consider this – the mischievous, idiotic part of me (just like the mentioned youtuber) love to provoke the Dinos purposely – honking them, driving all over them etc. It would be ridiculous if such kind of actions go without actual gameplay punishment isn’t it? This is simply DINO BULLYING!

Finally, as much as I love GTA, this is NOT about the quest for action sequences, NOR it is for the sake of animation pleasures. This is SOLELY about the sense of FEAR, VULNERABILITY and paying RESPECT to the main characters of the game – the Dinos!

Also from me, Thank you Bo and the other Community managers and Frontier in general for listening to us, keep up the good work.

A 1 out of 20 times I could live with but I wonder how will the repair work, will it have to be transported by chopper to the rangers station or do you see another way?
Personally I would like for it to be out of order and a new jeep appears in the rangers station.

Still I'm happy if they attack the jeep from time to time like PCMR4Life says but without it being destroyed.

What I thought earlier were that:-

- Damaged vehicle will move slower, giving a warning sign to go back to the station getting repaired.
- I'm not sure how the disaster mechanisms work so I thought it would be easier to get a chopper dropping down a new jeep on spot and taking back the damaged jeep on its return trip.
- The crew members will only be exposed after the destruction - they have the options to either return to the station or get the jeep repaired on spot - such that it is barely movable back to the station.
- If ACU chopper is destructible as well, an airborne replacement unit can be made available on spot as well - just to make things easier as to resume their initial tasks.

Your idea is good also if it feels more convenient.

But later on, I just found out that ranger station can produces multiple teams ($50,000 each). Based on the number of parking lots, it suggests that there will be 3 of them. Hence, it seems like things might not be that bad if vehicles are made destructible. I really hope the Devs can share with us more of the other reasons for not doing so, that I miss.

For the videos of charging Dino on Jeeps that I mentioned:-

I definitely appreciate them trying to communicate better than they currently do with Elite.
I only wish they were doing it here.

I mean, if it was a concern raised on reddit and they replied on reddit, it's fine, I would not expect them to copy/paste every tidbit of info on all outlets every time, but as I don¨t use reddit, twitter, facebook or any other social media thingy, I feel a bit left out at times. That's ultimately my problem, not theirs, though.
I don't know why I brought it up. :D

I liked the JWE page on Facebook so I see the updates there as well. I also subscribed to the YouTube channel. The JWE sub reddit made me make a reddit account. They devs are pretty active over there I believe, at least I believe its' devs or just people from Frontier.

I like that they are so active in the community and at least giving us updates. you can tell that they are really trying to give the fans everything they want and is possible for them to do.

Don't like the Jeep response. Ok, so they're tough and sturdy. At the end of the day it's still a jeep and bigger dinosaurs like T Rex would be able smash it.

Having them destructible adds a challenge of isolating carnivores before sending the Jeep in.

It should be done the way it is in real life. You keep a distance from the animal and shoot the tranquilizer dart at it. If you take the vehicle too close then the animal will get agitated and start feeling threatened and might even charge the vehicle and ram it. Of course this is a park setting so maybe the animals get accustomed to the vehicle and seeing the humans. But they still shouldn't be like tamed animals. In JW when the big green tour vehicle drives through the one enclosure the animals run away from it. Different things would cause this. Maybe the engine noise and possibly the size of the vehicles and the smell of humans onboard.

The ACU ranger AI should know to keep the vehicle a certain distance from certain animals so the vehicles won't get attacked or destroyed each time and the player doesn't have to man the jeep each time. The distance could be different for herbivores and carnivores. Of course I am not saying you have to snipe them from a mile away. Just a bit of distance. Of course if you are the kind player who wants to go drive close to your Rex honking the horn like a nut job so you can anger it and make it chase you then you should be able to do that. I used to do it in JPOG to make Dinosaurs chase the tour vehicle.

Apparently, I'm helping to fill the gap.

I hope to get rewarded by having a ranger wearing the name tag "John Miller", being the first who got stomped by an I-Rex...[squeeeee][squeeeee][squeeeee]
