The forum is cluttered with posts about people prematurely downloading launchers, complaining when it doesn't seem to work properly, etc. when they haven't said they're done yet. I don't get it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that status page always report "OK" even when people get matchmaking errors left, right and center?

Yeah, the upgrade was fast - no servers just yet though.

Same happened to me. I guess ill just have to shut down my computer to save me the agony and check back at the end of the day.

Maybe the upgrade was fast because now they have the steam servers doing a little "loadbalance".

All I know is that I'm getting solid 7.6MB/s from steam, a huge upgrade from what it used to be from fdev servers.

Matchmaking errors may not be an issue with the entire server being down but more about some bugs to be worked out. Server status earlier showed as upgrading so you cant blame people for getting excited. Don't worry everyone is cranky because their addiction is on pause.
