Hardware & Technical Upgrading motherboard/cpu question

I'm getting a new Motherboard and cpu, to upgrade my system in prep of CV1 and a grx1080. I had Win8.1 and upgraded to Win 10. My question is; does anyone know if Win 10 will run ok after the swap? Google searches tell me everything from having to re-install 8.1, then Win 10, to buying a new Win 10 key, to advise deleting certain (??) files from my SSD first, to some saying It'll sort itself out anyway!
I thought I would ask here for expert opinion!

If you change the motherboard and CPU then you are going to have to do a clean install of Windows, there is no two ways about it.

This is because:

1) It'll throw a fit if you install that drive with Windows installed into what is essentially a new PC.
2) It'll quite possibly mark itself up as counterfeit.
3) It's set up for your old computer so the chances are some of the drivers will be broken, the registry will not be relevant to the new system, things like that.

If you intend on re-using the same version of Windows and the same key then you may have to de-register it from your old computer through Microsoft Support to get it to register properly, but it should work.

Thanks. However for the information of anyone that is interested, I replaced motherboard, upped the i5 to an i7, and new ram to 16Gb. Plugged everything back in and it all worked straight away! Win 10 still registered and ran immediately. I just ran the disc with the drivers on to load in the new wifi thingy to get that working.
Never thought it would be that easy!
