Upgrading power plants

Does upgrading to a better power plant improve performance if you aren't using all the power?
For example im using 20.06 out of 21.00. If i upgrade to 23.10 will I gain faster regen on weapons/shields/engines or does that all come down to the distributor?

Distributor will affect shield/engigne/wpn recharge.

Classes, not sizes, of poweplants affects how well your ship dissipates heats.
I prefer A rated plants when exploring, for example. It makes scooping without heat damage easier.

Regen is dependent on the distributor. A better power plant brings more power and lower temperatures.

The first thing you should upgrade on any ship is the power plant, and buy the best one you can.
Not only does it give you more power to run all of your modules, but heat becomes so much less of a problem.

Unless you're building something to by hyper-lightweight, I'd be tempted to always include the best power plant that you can afford. An A-grade for lots of power and cooling, or B-grade if you're fretting about people sniping it too quickly.

I could of swore the distributor helped with heat also?

Putting more pips to weapons means they heat up more slowly and cool down more quickly, and a better distributor is more efficient at doing that, but otherwise I don't think it makes much difference to other systems heat-wise.

At work, but people have advised that although the bars are the same, you get an up arrow when comparing.

Same as a lot of the "rounding" like KWS Ranges.

I'll have a look when I get home if I get the chance (watercooling parts have arrived... so...) but I guess it gives at least a small reason to fit a B-Class PP, other than simply not being able to afford an A-Class.

Hmm, the wiki claims otherwise.. maybe it's wrong. Are you in a position to check in-game right now?

They both say A, but if you look ingame and hit compare then it shows the B rated one with a green arrow next to the A integrity rating. I've done alot of stealth combat, trust me on this, it's tougher.

All B class items have higher integrity. Its one of the reasons they weigh so much. I think maybe A class have equal integrity to B.

EDIT: read a few posts above me and someone said that B class is indeed tougher than A too. As i said must be why they weigh so much more.
