Upgrading Stations

Is there a way to get a station to upgrade? Say a station has outfitting and repair, but no ship yard. Is there any way in game to be able to help a station get those facilities?

there once was a community goal for obsidian orbital I believe that added more tiers as you met the goals required but as for expanding/upgrading already established ones then id say no , you got what you got ... unless FD change this.

For now it is manual change, so FD needs to have solid reason to change this. However, sometimes they do so. Usually trough CGs. In future however there's hinted that these services could be dynamically added by BGS. Long way off though.

We've seen that it is possible to do two things to stations:

  1. Add ships to the shipyard.
  2. Add new modules to the outfitters.

For instance, when we adopted Manite, there were ten ships available. That number has increased to twelve.

In both Manite and Obambori (a very close system into which the Workers of Manite Labour Union expanded), the outfitters were originally shockingly bad - appropriate for two backwater industrial systems. While Obambori is still a pretty poor outfitters, it's markedly better than it used to be. Between them, the outfitters in Obambori and Manite now provide most of the modules to A rate most medium ships, although certain modules are still missing.

We suspect that the tiers that a CG lays bare also apply to all extant stations, but that within a tier there are sub-tiers that players can manipulate.

We're not entirely sure how we improved the stations, although it is possible that booms and/or generally favourable conditions within a system lead to its improvement.
