URGENT: FDev, please fix the duplicated data exploit bug today

Well... at least it's been acknowledged. Let's hope for a suspension for data merits for now.

And hammer time for abusers. Being this thing on since day 1 it's gonna be difficult to see the different situations reverted for the rightful Powers, but a man can dream. :)

I'd like to see FDev actually say something about it.
A statement saying they've acknowledged it, are working on it, and yes - it is an exploit, do not do it.

But until then, I'm gonna continue to do my thing. sigh

Next week is the November FU stream. I hope they'll at least deal with the topic there, but I'm not really expecting it.
Edit: Perfect time to prove me wrong and react at last:

Either they've identified issues with that we don't know, or it's just a precaution. I'd be fine if they'd temporarily put all hold to all of it and look at everything.
Probably not "issues" in the sense of exploits like with the data hubs, but outliers they didn't consider which let players earn merits (way) quicker than Frontier intended.

Maybe they should adjust the merit gains for fighters and well and all the big holes would be plugged for the moment.

Most methods earn merits way to slow, especially when there's not much time to play per day.

Understandable perhaps why they didn't before, though.

"CMDRs, we are temporarily suspending three of the main non-exploit ways to get merits, all of which are also routinely required for weekly tasks."

That might end up being worse than the actual exploits, in terms of short-term complaints and bug reports and so on, if they can't fix it and get them back online quickly!
(Long-term, I would agree that it's the right choice. But it's not cost-free for them.)

There is an escape pod exploit - someone posted, without many details, what it was: having used those hints to figure it out for myself, yes, it's a really silly unintended consequence: not quite on the level of data port duplication where there's an actual bug involved, but it's also clearly something which shouldn't give merits for doing it.

Rares I've not heard anything more than "they're really out of line with everything else" though maybe carrier-stockpiling (rather than raw merits/hour) is considered too problematic?

I kinda hope the rare nerf has more to do with stopping the carrier stockpiling. If the data exploit is squashed there will be less need for it anyway.
And S&R doesn't get too badly affected...

Exactly. Only reason I have used the carrier is to combat the data exploit and fighter farming.

The problem with suspending a selected list instead of everything is whether they are going to mark this in the UI in some way for those three things? I doubt it.

However the upside is at least they came to the forum and announced it! (here)

Best not to hold your breath. I don't see Frontier reverting any system states.
They should. Undermining dropped to a halt on all our systems, showing how widespread the use was. We lost around ten systems, and had to spend Merits to counter it in two dozen more. Merits that could have been spent in acquiring - something that opposing powers did.
