Urm, Frontier? We now have passenger missiions which a Beluga can't do!

Not with shields anyway.

Dunno if anyone else has noticed, but 3.0 brings us passenger transport missions which require 54 passengers to be moved, in First Class cabins. The selection of rewards for these are very good, including Grade 5 materials, if required:

The trouble is, the Beluga can't do these missions. Not with shields anyway.

You have to use all 4 of the Class 6 slots for First-Class Cabins, giving you room for 48 passengers.

Ah-ha! You say, use one of the 2x Class 5 slots for a shield perhaps? Well.....no, because those are restricted slots and can't carry shields of any sort. Bear in mind this ship requires Class 6 shields as standard for its size, but hey, who needs shields anyway? Passengers won't mind at all if you scrap the hull a bit or get shot at with engineered PAs (!) so lets exclude those pesky shields and make room for more passengers!

I mean, you could use one of those Class 5 slots for First Class Cabins.....but, no shields!

So, there you have it. The Beluga can't handle 54-First missions with shields.

That's........not right. Not at all. Not for the game's premier passenger ship.

Don't worry Commanders, there is another big ship that can do these missions with shields and slots to spare.......yeah, you know the one I'm talking about!

Condy wins again!

happens when again you don't make proper test cases for your game to check off limit generated numbers, it's basically similar to those only a python can cargo it to the outpost missions of the past. But hey, as we see this mission is for those unportected first class only big 3. Beluga never existed or cared.

I am just waiting for the luxury missions exceeding the max possibles.

Seen this also, same with the >=180t cargo to outpost missions.
I dunno what magic they always do with numbers on missions, but yeah, there definately can't be any testing involved at all.
Which is a shame if you ask me.

I'm mainly a mission runner for our faction. Hard to have any nice missions at all these days, it's killing the fun and driving me off the game...
So sad, i really want to love it. Again.

I know that she’s widely unloved and rendered essentially pointless by other ships, but I’ve grown quite fond of my Beluga.

Oh it's a great looking ship and it flies well, it's just very poorly designed for the job of running passenger missions. The internals were terribly thought out and could really use a thorough adjustment.

The Anaconda is a far superior passenger ship to the Beluga. I don't like it, nor do I think it should be that way, but it is. :(

This. The Beluga seriously needs buffing now. And those mythical Luxury missions? Do they even exist? That's this ship's USP and I've not seen any for weeks now.

Since FD has been in the ship fixing mood lately maybe the Beluga will get some attention this year. Whoever came up with the internals clearly has never played the game.

Funny thing is the beluga is bigger then the conda :D

A bigger backside at least. I’ve been flying one for about 3 months and I still get snagged when exiting the mail slot on occasion. A few nights ago I became ensnared in the metal grill while trying to avoid a reckless NPC - the station was screaming blue murder, NPCs piling into me from all sides. I managed to reverse just enough to get a trespassing fine but not enough to wriggle free… it got to the point where I was ready to hit self destruct. :D

They do show up and can be quite lucrative, but nowhere near as often as they should.

It does kind of seem that way, doesn't it? I mean, the Beluga has a hull mass over twice what the Anaconda has, yet it's internals are smaller with even less of them. Not to mention the restriction of having some of them locked to cabins only, which direly handicaps the outfitting of the ship like tying a boxers left arm behind their back.

The Beluga is a great looking ship, but one of the worst designed ships in the game IMHO.

IMO (FWIW) passenger mission in general need a complete rethink on how they are offered.

Instead of just a random list of “Let us see what is offered to decide where I go”, I would like to see a galaxy map type route plotter where the liner can plug in a route and get a list of passenger missions along that route. Perhaps with filters for distance off the route. Filters for round trips or one way. Also, the passenger lounge should only be legal passengers. Wanted passengers should be in a black market style section but offer higher payouts.
