Then why do they give it away through normal gameplay?ARX is there for people to buy, not for Frontier to give away like confetti. They want you buying ARX and using that to obtain extras for the game.

And do you have a source for this assertion? And why would it preclude giving some more away for some CG’s and II’s?Because, by providing a little bit of ARX to a player's account will actually result in players purchasing more ARX to be able to obtain items they want. Instead of having patience to wait to obtain ARX for free, the idea is to provide a small amount free that will encourage players to top it up using real cash.
I think this is the underlying issue, some think that specific activities need to be incentivised to encourage others to engage in them while that is not the way FD see things by their own declaration. The objective of threads like this seem to be clearly targetted at promoting a particular way of engaging with ED rather than letting people decide for themselves with all options being considered equal.I see Arx has provided a new and unexciting dimension to the ancient argument: 'FD should promote how I play and discourage how you play'.
