CQC Use CQC Maps for a new Sandbox mode. ultimate training and testing tool

Just thought of the idea in a recent post.

Imagine you could have a CQC map but choose what ship to fly and your opponents and allies. Choose any vessel from the main game as your ship or opponent and go at it in combat. For example, for fun I could use a vulture against 5 Belugas for LOLs :D

you have access to ALL modules before flight. allowing you to experiment what future ship customisation options you may prefer without the risk of losing your ship. including Powerplay weapons!

None profit-purely for experimental and testing purposes of vessels.

What do you think?

Not really CQC though is it.

You can almost do this already anyway. Just get a bit of cash together, do a bit of powerplay grinding and then call your mates and meet up at one of the in game CQC structures.

IMHO that was what CQC was initially hoped to be : ELITE's own "Kobayashi Maru Test" and a full-scale Simulator on top.

Want to test-fly Ships before buying them? Do so in the Sim.
Want to perform offensive Weapons Testing of various builds incl. any Engineer Mods? Do so in the Sim.
Want to go 1v1, 2v2, 4v4 or 8v8 in any Benchmark Combat scenario - or just FFA combat for fun in big Ships? Do so in the Sim.
Want to relive old lore Battles of ELITE History? Do so in the Sim.
Want to practise small to large Wing Combat or MultiCrew Scenarios? Do so in the Sim.
Want to setup any virtual Battles, involving multiple CapShips and entire Fleets of Empire vs. Federation ships? Do so in the Sim.
Want to find out how a heavyweight Battle-Cutter fights over a 9g Planet when the fight starts at 20km Altitude?... guess what, do so in the Sim.

The whole CQC concept could have been epic if it was properly thought out and the unique opportunities it holds were recognized and capitalized upon.
It's sad that all we got was this failed Arcade Sim, but IMHO it's still not too late. The concept of a Simulator still holds alot of potential.
Similar to Exploration, one would just have to tap it...

Hit it on the head there!

Yeah A sandbox or sim mode would just be a fun non profit way of experimenting with pretty much everything to do with ship's loadouts, handling, speed as well as fighing a vast array of hostiles to hone your skill (Incursion Elite is way too easy) maybe throw a few capital ships in there eh? :)

This would also give Beta testers for future update a prime opportunity to test the upcoming ships to their full potential.
