Use the Aegis Acropolis and Vanguard to give AX pilots some breathing room while Infestation Issues are being fixed

At present there are a multitude of issues with the current Thargoid War content. Two of them being Infestations being very difficult to clear due to very low spawn NHSS spawn rate and Aegis seemingly doing nothing, this is resulting in frustration in the anti-goid community and large amounts of systems being attacked without the manpower to save them. Why not kill two goids with one stone and do a small plotline of the Aegis Vanguard and Acropolis megaships (and maybe more megaships!) being deployed to some of the Eagle Eye systems with Galnet explicitly stating that Aegis will fight off the goid infestations in those systems and prevent them going into infestation. This would give people breathing room while the NHSS bug is fixed and allow efforts to be focused more confidentially while also helping mitigate the long running player complaint that Aegis does nothing and that developers want every defence to fail. Once its fixed we could then continue the storyline with one of them being attacked, the other comes to the rescue and we have a little community goal and event to save them that knocks them out of action until the next stage of the invasion or whatever.

This would not only placate anger but provide some narrative that the players can interact with.

Sounds good.

It's also a little weird that humanity is being so passive in this war. I'd expect SRV missions to, for instance, disrupt function of the known Thargoid structures, or perhaps missions to deny Thargoids the use of the barnacle structures that they're suspected to use for resupply. Even if the human military is outmatched in combat terms, I'd expect them to engage in guerre de course, something that could be accommodated within the current mission structure. It's historically the way the weaker side fights - go after the unprotected infrastructure.

There certainly needs to be more done to show humanity fighting back instead of just passively sitting there. To combine ideas they could even dump the two megaships in 2 of the eagle eye systems and do some static signal sources showing aegis ship fighting the goids and use that as an excuse to have two Eagle Eyes report no targets. They could take it a step further and use that as an aggressive xeno defence system where kills in the targeted offence system count for some form of reducing the amount of EE targets. So much Fdev could do!

Humanity is fighting, just that they're fighting each other still. ;)

I think the narrative FD is telling has it in the script that the bubble will burn regardless of player activity. /s

No /s required, if the amount of bugs is anything to go by they certainly don't mind the bubble burning!
