Useful bug? (SC assist)

Lat night, I took on a couple on-foot massacre missions. Both were in the same system as the station. Both targeted the same anarchy faction, so no bounty or notoriety. After leaving each planet, a NPC attempted to interdict me, which I evaded. The second time, I had SC assist enabled for the station. Upon evading the interdiction, I found that SC assist was still active. Last I knew, interdiction attempts automatically de-activate SC assist. Is that not always the case, or is this a new bug?

Not complaining, just curious.

For some unknown reason, Supercruise Assist remains armed if something was preventing it from operating at the moment of interdiction. Normally that is due to a wrong throttle amount, though one may also have been misaligned or obstructed.

That was it then. I lowered throttle to almost zero to get it over with, then increased after interdiction started. I'll put this to good use in the future. Thanks for the input.

Oh! If the upcoming interdiction was the reason for adjusting the throttle then you may prefer the other approach of increasing to maximum and using the other feature of Supercruise Assist—it can drop you on-target regardless of speed. I have a minor example of this here in the first few seconds, where I could have kept it at maximum for longer, but either way you can see that the drop occurs at higher speed than is possible normally.

I like to limit my use of that to be within 5 Ls or so, otherwise one can start to drop slightly off-target, and demands attention to orbits and angles and such. This came after I managed to drop an unshielded Imperial Cutter into the wall of a starport that way, where luckily I could exit immediately then continue, dock, repair. It is indeed possible to drop inside the docking area, which means leaving immediately due to trespassing.

I'm already quite experienced with that aspect. I usually hit max throttle at 3 LS, then drop back to re-engage the assist at 5 seconds. My success rate is much better that way, and it always drops me outside the station. Above 5 LS will avoid any interdiction, but it's a little too risky for my liking. I switched to 3 LS after my second rebuy. I wound up dropping inside the docking area both times, and was promptly destroyed for trespassing.
