User Interface Screens - Left Side & Right Side To Disable

In the regular game (when I play non rift, just on the monitor) I use my pinky finger on a lower button on the HOTAS Warthog stick to cycle the UI screens. Although this carries over in to when I play with the rift, I am still getting the UI screens popping up automatically when I turn my head either side to view my hardpoints, ships and other space stuff. Is there a simple control setup to disable these UIs appearing when turning my head left or right? I'm sure there is and yes it does sound like a Noob's question.

Press (hold) the same pinky to make the pop-up menus disappear - or not appear in the first place. - At least this works well on the X52.

Unsure if you can change the command to a toggle though.
