Using a small clip-on desk fan has really improved my VR experience

I just wanted to pop in here to say that I picked up a neat little clip on desk fan today ..

.. and it's really improved my VR experience. It's nice and quiet, clips onto the edge of the desk next to the keyboard, and gives a really lovely light cooling breeze on my face when I'm in VR which makes the whole thing feel a lot less claustrophobic and clammy and just generally way more pleasant. Luckily I don't suffer from motion sickness any more but I can easily imagine it would help with that too. Highly recommended.

I finally bit the bullet and bought a portable air conditioner myself, I can have my cockpit nice and chill even when its 30 degrees C outside...

It's quite possibly the best thing I've bought in some time, as I can't stand heat...

Yeah man, standard procedure. Second thing I bought after the rift.

If you fog because you get hot then yes. A small desk fan is what you need.

I setup my vr cockpit directly underneath my apartments climate control now.
Let's me choose between actively cool air or warm as needed.

:D

My office gets rather warm in general, since I have multiple computers running at all times. So I keep a fan in the doorway, to blow cooler air from floor level at the door, upward and across the backs of the chairs (but not hitting them directly). Totally works. I use one of these, and while it's fairly small, it moves a lot of air and isn't very noisy unless you turn it up to full strength.

Nice.
Shipping cost kind of kills it for me though.

Cost $25.
Shipping and import: $95 ...

Think I will try something more local..

I have a desk fan, ceiling fan, pedestal fan and blackout curtains on both windows. Makes it somewhat ok in my office. I've not had to put in a window unit yet. Florida summers aren't too great

But can it fix my fog problems though?

...

:(

I use a regular air fan for that. I just point it to one side of the HMD at lowest setting from a meter away and it keeps the fog away,
even at high humidity and temperatures around 25°C - 27°C outside. I have no air conditioning.

Cheers, I'll give it a go when I'm back online. Fogging has been my number one experience killer so far, and much to my bemusement no matter what the ambient temperature is.

If a fan saves me I'll get on my knees and worship the good lord Cthulu.

Whoa... i bought the exact same fan a couple weeks ago. :)
Though mine is more to pull the heat away from the top of my pc under the desk. Helps save a few precious degrees.
I get a nice breeze out of it too, though likely not quite as cool as yours. ;)

Bought! You only have to poke yourself in the eye once while trying to keep your head set on and wipe the lenses to make it well worth the price.

Yeah, not quite so sure how pleasant blasting yourself in the face with hot air would be - I guess it adds realism to fuel scooping! :p

Well, I'm sitting about 4-5 feet from where the back-top fan outlet is, and have the fan clipped on the desk behind that. So it's actually not too bad.
Heck, any moving air is better than still in my book. :)

Depends how cold it is.

When your unaided roomtemp is 13c (55f) even with full vr setup turningn on the heat isn't a good idea.
It's down right brilliant or just obvious.
