Newcomer / Intro Using chield cell banks.....

Hi Commanders,

I was experimenting with a shield cell bank (not chield sorry) in my eagle the other day and got slightly worried - think I didn't use it correctly....

Anyhow, I had it fitted and set it to the second node/module then headed out to space to check the process of how it works....

My shields were full, so I flipped across to the second node/module and hit the shield cell bank. My canopy exploded and suddenly I was in life support mode - I was like "WTH!" so turned and headed back into the station, not knowing what went wrong.....

So what's the basics of using them....wait till shields are down, pop the cel bank and wait for your shields to return?

I've just begun to take on Python's but Anaconda's are ripping me a new one.....

Firstly I read that as "Using Child Cell Brains" so I had to click, I've been trying for years to get my children to use their cell brains :)

If you wait until your shields are all the way down, the shield cells are ineffictive. When they are about blown is when you want to pop one off. I just have mine assigned to a button on my HOTAS. IIRC they need to be assigned to a fire group though, so just bury them deep into a fire group you'll never use and assign a button to maually engage them.

could it be you were exceeding the power limits? when using the shield cell you also deploy weapons.

when you go to modules your power consumption must be below 100%. (100% is already to much).

you can disable non critical modules which consume power to avoid that untill you get a better power item.(like cargo hatch, it consumes 5% power for some odd reason ^^)

Thank you both....I suspect I was at 100% and yes, my hardpoints were definately deployed (but I switched to the second fire group before I hit the switch...

I'll go back and re-try tonight....

LOL the look on your face must have been priceless. I'm sorry, I know it's no help but I literally laughed out loud at that.

"Initiate shield cell test"

***BOOM goes the canopy****

"Boss, we mixed the shield cell switch with the eject switch. Our bad"
