Newcomer / Intro Using EDDB to find pristine metallic rings

Do rings deplete as people mine them? Ive been playing over 2 hours now on a wild goose chase using EDDB. I have set the parameters to pristine and metallic but when I get to the system its always just 'metal rich'. Ive literally travelled 150LY all over the place now :(

thanks frog but that info on there is incorrect too :( it has the same info as EDDB and 2 of the closest stars done have metallic just metal rich.

I might make the 195LY journey to where I used to mind when I played it on PS4... on that note which is the best Cheapest ship i can get to get there quicker?

Assuming no engineering or spare modules lying around the Hauler is the cheapest and will get you there in around 6-7 jumps with a 2D shield and a 3A fuel scoop all core modules D rated except for the A rated FSD there are other ships though and a DBX just out of the shop will jump almost as far but that costs more than the Hauler and all the new modules.

Metal rich rings are not the same as metallic rings. Are you saying that the update has changed some ring types from metallic to metal-rich?

The abundance of reserves in rings is a different matter, ranging through Pristine - Major - Common - Low - Depleted - Even that doesn't change by player action, only game updates have changed the reserve types as far as I am aware.

yes the rings that should be metallic are now metal rich. This is why I was asking if rings can be over mined to degrade there quality?

Its ok now ive headed back to my old stomping ground with metallic rings. Bought an Adder and it was only 12 jumps :)

Let's have the system names please so we can check them out and take this up with FD - the ring type should not change - only the reserves should ever change.

Can't remember now buddy as I've travelled way away from when I posted this. There were 2 spots that weren't metallic and 2 that were (but they had no ports nearby)

Most ringed planets have two rings, though some have just one.

99.9% of two ringed planets that have a metallic ring, the metallic one is the smaller inner ring.

I'm guessing that you are dropping into the larger outer ring
