Now wouldn't it be cool to use this in binary star systems?

Using the jumps star's gravity pull to speed you up, and slingshot you into deep space towards that star 500kls away.

This way it doesn't take ages to speed up, and your ETA will be much faster.

In supercruise gravity slows you down. Attempting a "gravity assist" in Elite: Dangerous would result in arriving at your destination slower not faster.

Gravity waves travel at the speed of light. The frameshift drive allows you to go much faster.

But if you did it in normal space, it would get you there in like maybe 7 years, instead of the usual 23

I proposed a mechanic about two years ago to allow CMDRs to fly a specific path around objects to gain an increase in SC acceleration towards their destination in the system - ie: A sling shot effect...

A confidence : during my first supercruise flights i tried to turn arround giant gaz planet (because of giant mass) and was a little sad that i didn't notice a sling effect...

So yeah your thread is sooo relevant for me !

People don't know how Jupiter is important regarding life on earth... she just attract all the comets, asteroids and throw them far away or in the sun... i LOVE Jupiter !
