I was wondering whether anyone has had any success using mines in combat (rather than just dropping them while boosting away and charging FSD)?
I tried using mines on a DBS last night against some T9's, dodging around them at point-blank range, dropping mines ahead of where I expected them to turn. The mines inflict massive damage per hit. It was fun and it worked, but I don't know how it would do against tougher ships, especially with human pilots.
I was thinking perhaps a stealth DBS build with a Dazzle frag cannon to help screw up sensors, and a few mine launchers (2 standard with cascade effect to kill shields and 1 shock mine with ion disruptor to knock the enemy around and keep them off balance).
Could this work?
