Using previous islands

Is this intended that I can go back to my first island with lots of cash reserves and large profit per hour to do all research, expeditions and fossil extraction which is then carried over when I transfer to the second island? I can just go back, completely unlock all dinosaurs and research then transfer all that to what is supposed to be the more challenging island?

Surely a bug.

Once you've done all the research etc for the 2nd island then how are you going to do the research for the 3rd, as that relies on you 'completing' the second - which you will not have done.

As an example. On my second island I can't afford to research the viewing platform or the monorail. But I can load up my first island, do both of those, go back to my second island and then build them in my park for next to nothing. Before I started the second island those items were not available to research, but now when I load up my first park they are there to research and the results can be carried over when I return to my second island.

Yes, and as I said, how are you going to do that for island 3 since you won't have completed island 2?

If you really think it's a bug then raise one, but I think it's just one of those things where you can minmax your way through if you really want, but it's more fun to do island 2 stuff on ... island 2

i thought this as well, but I've held off on going through all that just in case missions for the divisions require research or fossil extraction etc

Once I've done all 3 division reputations to the point of unlocking all their things, then I may well go back to the first island to bankroll all the upgrades. Although having said that, I was up to 120k profit per minute on the second island within about half an hour (and over 2 mill in the bank) so I imagine by the time you get to all that research you'd have enough cash on island 2 to stay there

It does feel a bit exploit-y to have it available that way, but it makes sense from the point of your research and dinos carrying over all islands, and by the time you're a couple of hours into the second island you won't need to worry about money there either

researching tier two stuff on the first island won't stop you from 3 starring the 2nd island. Nor will it stop you from doing the 3 divisions main missions, so you'll still progress to island 3

Yeah - all the time you are doing your research back on island 1 you are not making money from guests on island 2, so when you have all your cool new upgrades you switch back to 2 and can't afford to use the upgrades / dinos etc. So it's kinda like a reverse-exploit :)

Having said that, maybe for Muerta that would work as it is a bit of a pain with all the storms. Not so sure its worthwhile on Tacano as that is smoother progression once you get going.

Another 'exploit' would be to restart the island after doing research - then you get to start the island again but I think you keep any research you did.

Edit: I rate this 'exploit' : meh ;)

this is why i think the core philosophy of "do what you want how you want" is flawed. The fact that you can go to other more profitable islands to research things outside of your funds. The fact that you can restart a level and keep everything you've unlocked and researched. It all kind of makes the money and island management a bit irrelevant

I can go to any of the islands and not care about anything other than burning cash on research. Then when I'm in the red and all hell has broken loose I can just restart the island and do the same for the next set of upgrades. There really isn't a risk factor to any of it

It's why I think it'd be better if each island had it's own sandbox mode aside from the story. I think if you restart an island it should reset EVERYTHING that was bought or unlocked on that island. And I think you should only be able to research stuff that requires a research centre on Muerta while you're there. Same with extracting fossils and visiting dig sites. That way the campaign actually has a failure point. It currently doesn't seem like it does

I think it was intended this way. Everything carries over between island, except for money.

I stocked up on non-fossils in me Fossil Centre using the second island and then switched to the third island to sell them there. This way I got some starting money to build the basic facilities.

SO true. It's kind of weird. If you can't run your park in the first place, you shouldn't be granted additional help, just because you failed...
