Using VLC player while Playing Elite.

OK for some time now I've tried to get vlc player to play whilst playing Elite without crashing and noticed lately it's become impossible at least for me and from what I can tell allot of other people have had mixed luck on various PC's
What I have discovered is to do this without problems playing mp3 wav flac DivX mp4 even your favorite video's from you tube without vlc crashing is to simply go to advanced preferences under video settings and disable "enable video" and "embedded video" click save close and load your play list or 3hr album and enjoy.

I hope this helps some people like me that have a crazy amount of music in many different formats and vlc player is one of the best all round players you can use with many other absurdly useful quirks also it does play 4k video and 5.1 surround as well.

Hmm, I've used VLC at the same time and it works fine

Maybe you've got too much going on and not enough memory for it all?

I too have no problems playing any media, with VLC,WMP while playing the game.
edit
all people need is klite codec pak installed and any media player will play any format. yes vlc doesn't need it but other do!

AMD card?

I don't have an AMD card so not sure but my old rig has an Nvidia GTX780ti 3gb i7 4790k and 16gb ram.... the issue is I think is that VLC is using the same video output that the game is using for Elite be that the CPU's inbuilt GPU or pci express mounted cards and it just crashes it started sporadically for me then no matter what I did it crashed [where is it] and after googling and allot of redit and forum posts I resorted to killing things in VLC that I thought might help and I found both those settings I mentioned had to be turned off.

Well, when I had an AMD card and used VLC to pass the ED boredom, I did have spuradic crashes...

Not really played ED since moving to NVidia so can't compare...
