Using VR to manage pain

This morning the BBC has had a segment on the Breakfast News on managing pain through VR. A lady had bad scalds to her leg, and changing the dressings were uncomfortable (OK, read PAINFUL!). She took part in a VR experiment. Now, while the dressings are being changed she is playing a form of basketball in an Oculus Rift CV1. Because she is concentrating on the game she is less aware of having the dressings changed;

That was possibly some of the most freakish I have seen yet.
I would probably not find that relaxing.
