USS Spawns, is there a trick i'm missing?.

How are these things triggered? , is there anyone who can shine some light on these seemingly completely random acts of RN-Gesus?...

Normally i spot them going about my business but when engineers dropped you required some specific ones , which with some logic in the chaos you can track down what you need but this isnt really what im asking for. What i really want to know about is the spawn mechanics themselves , is it completely random when/if they appear? is there a way to get a higher % of them to appear.

I ask as currently ive been orbiting an amonia world for the past few hours trying to spawn a UP USS so i can take a peak at the new alien base and the only Uss ive seen (which doesnt happen often) are the degraded USS.

anything like speed? , distance from body? etc etc.

There is many types of uss and they all have spawn what they can spawn in side them and there are conditions that define were and what spawns.

So if you look for material x from uss it may only spawn at system that are populated, controlled by Empire minor faction when the system is in state of outbreak and then only at shipping lane. The location in system has effect, shipping lane, deep spaces etc. and which faction control that space, even if system is controlled by some factions inside system different areas are controlled by different factions, bgs states have effect on what uss spawn and what materials spawn on them.

There is list of what materials can spawn at which uss, and on what conditions these uss can spawn.

There is conditions were stuff spawn, but then its still rng as same location can have multiple possible uss that can spawn there and have higher spawn rate. For example i once spent 2 hours the system in right bgs state, controlled by right faction, right place in the system and it still took 2 hours before the right uss spawned with right materials i wanted. There is rng, but you can't find some of these randomly at any location as they have zero change to spawn if the conditions don't match.

thanks for the info , yes i know of the types and where to look in system states etc but what im really wanting to know is just how a single USS is spawned (of any type) ... what are the general conditions that someone has maybe picked up on that has a higher chance to spawn them a bit more frequently (again as its RNG any type will do).

im in the pleiades sector kc-u b3-1 orbiting body 8 where an unknown probe is known to spawn but all have seen after around 4 hours of different distances of orbit are encoded and decoded uss which spawn very VERY infrequently. im after the "anomaly detected" but just getting more to spawn a bit quicker would help.

Each USS has requirements to spawn, such as systems in outbreak, or war, etc.

It also helps to fly slowly. USSs are spawned with enough distance to allow you to scan and slow down. At high speed, these USSs simply spawn out of your sensor range. Lol

i did notice if i was throttle to 0% then none spawned for me at all , and about 10% they spawned but still infrequently.

while in orbit if i stayed in the blue non would spawn , about 10/20% throttle seems the sweetspot while orbitting a body.

Whoever came up with USS should never be allowed beer again!

Like ive seen all the great alien base news and for the first time ever I want to really get involved and not just do combat. I get the Asp upgraded, I find the UA and yep im sat for over an hour waiting for a UP USS to appear and I haven't seen one! Biggest killjoy ever....

This is guide to uss spawns.

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...ntified-Signal-Sources-(USS)-A-Complete-Guide

It has information about all uss and conditions about which situations they spawn in. It also list what materials spawn at which uss and the conditions. It list what kind of system to go and what to do inside the system to get specific uss spawn with specific resources. Knowing this info allow you to minimize the rng about uss spawning, but there is still rng as same place can match conditions for multiple uss and materials. Some don't like this kind of information and want to do//stumble across stuff by themselves, it all depends about you if you want to read this Guide or not.

It's the curse of the search, if you are looking for it, you won't it, but if you have it, or aren't looking for it, you find it.

Good luck. I haven't been interdicted by Aliens tho' I have flown thru their "active" areas dozens of times. Go figure!

Im near 2 hours now trying various ranges to match people who have found them and no luck at all. Sorry FD but nothing is worth circling a planet for hours with no idea if the end is in sight, its just not fun.

It sucks when you have a job, wife/gf, kids etc and manage to steal a few hours for yourself to play and you waste 2 hours in ED flying around looking for something that won't appear.

Funny part is when i finally gave up and watched youtube the unknown probe appeared for obsidian relatively quickly. Guess i'll just wait till 2.4 drops to get my alien fix ... oh and ive not been hyperdicted either and spent quite a bit of time in the pleiades dotting around.

I was there last night like 6 hours. Around the planet Then out to deep space about 2k then back. Jumping to other system and back to refresh. Every posible distance. .... Nothing.
Thankfully the game servers went down for maintenance so I had no choice but to stop lol

This morning I logged on, did 2 passes, then finally just under 1 ls away I got the degraded emissions level 2.
My heart went a flutter lol

Went and parked by the structure then logged off.
Want to go in fresh later rather than screw something up cause I'm anxious

I completely agree and im in the same boat. I tried another hour last night, but I just cant face it anymore. I can live with grind for engineers but to have a boring grind to collect one item to the progress story is just awful! I love the story in Elite and was so excited for aliens its just really disappointing that at some point im just going to have to bite the bullet, ruin it all and watch the whole thing via youtube....

Any type of USS search usually makes me wanting to turn off the game.

There is just nothing to do while flying and waiting USS to pop up, and even when it does - it is usually the type you don't need.

That USS spawn at the Amonia world is ridiculous. I tried for 1.5 evenings, saw maybe 6 USS IN TOTAL and non of them were the right one. Eventually some nice bloke let me have his and i was off.

Yeah this has me flinging down the love/hate rollercoaster right now. Loved visiting the site, hating this Unknown Probe search. It's not even a search. So far it's 1.5 gaming sessions involving blind experimentation and essentially zero gameplay.

(I get the damn things shouldn't be easy to find, but give me some in-game mechanic to pursue :/)

Gonna have one more go tonight, trying some more of the community tips. No joy with this. Going to try keeping speed between 215-250 at various heights around planet 8, then if no joy off to one of the planets where they've scoped optimal orbits. Valiant work by the community and all, but damnnnnn. This game :/

FWIW, had some success just now as soon as I returned to the planet's sphere of influence and made sure I didn't drop down below 200km/s (which apparently dumps you into 3 mins of guaranteed no-show). Just kinda see-sawed between 210 & 275. Jackpot. Finally!
