When I've gone into these before, I felt quite guilty about leaving them stranded.
Same here. So, I equipped a fuel limpet controller and helped out the next stranded guy I found just to see what would happen.
Well, quite disappointing. He flew away without a word. Since that day, I feel no more regret leaving them to their fate
Similar with pirate assassination missions. It would be so much more atmospheric if they'd ever spare a word like "Thanks commander, nice of you to drop by and save our lifes." Instead, they keep on yelling for help when the bad guy is long since dead, and telling the world what awful damage they have taken while all their subsystems always scan as 100%.
I do not think it would be too much of a dev effort to make them say something a little more appropriate, but it would make these missions feel so much more rewarding aside from the credits.
