USS, you find one then 3 pop up all in the same vicinity.

So floating around systems trying to complete bounty hunting BB missions and you come across that elusive USS, then 2 more pop up just before you enter the USS. What do you do? stick with the original or do you swap? Is there an advantage to changing?

It doesn't matter, what populates the USS is generated after you go inside. USS spawn in relation to your speed.

What I do?

I always wonder whether or not I should ticket it or at least write a forum post about it. I am always slightly irritated about this. Why do these "events" seem to clutter, even if I am deep in interstellar space? OK, if I am near a planet, I might expect some traffic. But why don't I see any USS in an inhabited system at first and then, if it happens, all of a sudden, several USS pop into reality? There is no reason for it.
I always wish, there would be only one USS in such a close distance. Minor issue, I know. I would love to see this changed nevertheless.

Im more puzzled on why convoys filled to the brim with goods are traveling at ~150m/s to their destination.

Since you have no way of knowing what the USS is about until you drop in, there's no point in guessing what might be in the others. Just pick the closest, which is usually the first one anyway.

They spawn in relation to speed?! I wish I knew that before! What is the range you need to be in?

I would like to know that, too. I was wondering if remaining stationary and staring at my target screen, cruising full out, or taking a leisurely tour was the best way to find a USS.

Signal sources pop up, when they do, at ten times your current speed = ten seconds away from you at your current speed. Going minimum SC speed (30 km/s) causes them to spawn 300 km away from you, and going 20c causes them to show up 200 Ls away. From my (extensive) experience, going certain speeds doesn't get them to show up faster. I have, however, noticed that if there's a dry spell while going minimum speed, sometimes throttling up for a second before sinking back to min speed causes one to show up.

Easiest way to hunt them is just set your SC speed at minimum throttle and watch your nav panel.
