Validating - the man, the myth, the legend

Who is this man? Does he exist? I’ve met this name consistently in my exploration trips in Elite. From the depths of Achilles’s Altar to the galactic core I found this name randomly in a dozen galactic regions. Is he even real, or just a phantom, has anybody found his campfire on a distant planet..?

Or is it a verb: (?) “Validating exploration info” or some such. I need to know!!!

Explorers! tell us the story of Validating, if anyone knows.

AFAIK it's Xbox players, or perhaps players on other platforms I guess. I've seen Carriers owned by Cmdr Validating too. I assume the placeholder name is used when the actual information is not retrieved quickly enough.

We need to hunt down CMDR Validating! He's the one who knows the true location of Raxxla (it probably already has his tag on it!)

On a (slightly) more serious note, though: Imagine when the first CMDR finds Raxxla, then rechecks his system map only to find "first discovered" and "first mapped" as "CMDR VALIDATING". The salt. It'll make the Dead Sea look like a fresh water lake by comparison! ;)

I'm pretty sure someone named themselves validating back in the beta.
Similar to booking a lane in the bowling alley as "Elaine Marshall"
