Value of Data Packages?

If you're following up on a tip-off you've been given and you locate a crashed ship (or any other objective, I suppose) with a valuable Data Package, are YOU the only one who gets the credits for it or can any other CMDRs with you also scan it and get the same payout?

I've hooked-up with a couple of other guys and we're planning a bit of communal wandering but I was wondering about doing stuff where we could all get a slice of any reward rather than just one of us.

Fairly certain one needs the Tip-Off. I deleted one accidentally once while in orbit approaching the coordinates. There was nothing at the coordinates once I dropped from orbit. Although your question assumes the scannable object is there for you to scan, so a slightly different scenario.

Tip Offs include a decryption key for the data. If you scan without the key you get only a small amount, a few thousand credits.

Yeah, that's part of what I was wondering about.

If there's a bunch of people, all in the same instance, surely they must ALL be able to see the POI and, in that case, it might be possible to scan it and get the payout.

Mostly, I just thought it might be fun if we could, at least, all land together on the same planet, deploy SRVs and then have a bit of a "gumball rally" to get to the POI.
I suppose if the POI can only be scanned by one person it'd create a bit of competition and that might be fun too but I was shooting for a more co-op outcome.

Ah, yes. Of course. [up]

Still, I guess it wouldn't be totally worthless for everybody else.

Anybody know roughly what percentage the raw data would be worth?
