Valve and LG introducing their take on the HMD

Interesting. Hoping tough to see soon new headsets combining the different technologies we have been seeing in the last couple of months for a generally better experience, like foveted rendering and screen swapping, and which hopefully could allow higher resolutions. This one seems to be pretty similar to the HTC one, although the more the better, and all in one platform!

In any case, I'm purchasing next week the discounted Rift to have something until 2nd generation...

Yeah, at best I suspect this would be gen 1.5.

I'm a little disappointed with the ginormous wand style controller though, I much prefer the rifts touch since the controllers don't extend past the hand themselves.
But I much prefer the tracking solution from Valve, ideally the touch controllers would have lighthouse tracking support.

Then again, I almost expect the third party controller market for lighthouse tracking to explode, the tracking pucks, manus gloves etc etc etc.
So I guess it's small problem.

As for the hmd itself, I like the sound of it, especially the flip up part.

You don't have to use the controllers that come with it you can also use Steams knuckle controllers when they come out.
